Happy Friday the 13th! Did you know that 2012 will have three Friday the 13ths? This month, April, and July!
I recently swatched the NYC City Duet 2-in-1 Lip Color in The Rock A Fellas and I heard how many of you loved these! I picked up two other duo’s and “The Vintage Pinks” is one of them. This dual-sided lipstick contains two lip colors in one, which you can wear alone or layered. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

I recently stumbled across these gems in my local K-mart, which I sometimes visit because they have makeup and beauty products I can’t find elsewhere. NYC City Duet 2-in-1 Lip Color is a really cool spin on the classic lipstick, containing two shades instead of just one, by splitting the lipstick bullet in two. Both shades coordinate with one another, and can be layered and worn together or separately. As soon as I saw this display I wanted to go crazy and purchase all ten of them, but then I thought to myself, “Rebecca, do you really need TEN more lipsticks in your collection?” Right. Self-control. I ended up buying 3 lipsticks from this collection, and here is the first, The Rock A Fellas. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

New York Color eyeshadow palettes are one of the best kept beauty bargain secrets. They put down fantastic, opaque color, last all day, and even come with a guide to help you understand how and where to apply each shade. We here at Beauty Gala are no stranger to New York Color’s eyeshadow quad’s, as we’ve reviewed and done looks for several of them now. I recently saw a new display called “IndividualEyes,” which contained an eyeshadow quad for each eye color. A couple of the eye color palettes looked like re-releases of previous palettes already in the collection, but more on that inside. I chose this palette because not only is it one I have never seen before, but the shades are perfectly neutral, and can be worn by anyone. Though I do have blue peepers, I know neutral eyeshadow colors seem to be the most popular in general. To see swatches and more photographs, read more…

New York Color’s Berry Bloom Collection for Fall 2010 yet again impresses, highlighting the romantic berries that we have seen all over the runways this season. In this collection are two rose lip glosses, in “Rose Kiss,” and “Peony Kiss.” The packaging on these lip glosses are just darling – the rose design on the actual lip gloss is reminiscent of higher-end products who put extra special touches and effects to make the products feel luxurious. The colors are rich, creamy, and pigmented, and perfect for the cooler weather, so go ahead and take a look for more swatches… read more…

Beauty Gala reader and dear friend Kimmie showed me photographs of her gorgeous water-marbled manicure last week. As she told me she was working on a video tutorial explaining how to do it, I got very excited, because I have only tried water-marbling once before (unsuccessfully, I may add). Her video tutorial is clear and concise, and restored my faith in the ability to successfully complete a water-marbling manicure on myself. The end result is completely unique and absolutely gorgeous. Inside, I included a photograph of another marbling design Kimmie did, so read more…
