Autumn Lookbook: New York Color Berry Bloom Collection, Rose Lip Gloss

main6

New York Color’s Berry Bloom Collection for Fall 2010 yet again impresses, highlighting the romantic berries that we have seen all over the runways this season. In this collection are two rose lip glosses, in “Rose Kiss,” and “Peony Kiss.” The packaging on these lip glosses are just darling – the rose design on the actual lip gloss is reminiscent of higher-end products who put extra special touches and effects to make the products feel luxurious. The colors are rich, creamy, and pigmented, and perfect for the cooler weather, so go ahead and take a look for more swatches… read more…

Guest Post, Video Tutorial: Water-Marbling Manicure

Beauty Gala reader and dear friend Kimmie showed me photographs of her gorgeous water-marbled manicure last week. As she told me she was working on a video tutorial explaining how to do it, I got very excited, because I have only tried water-marbling once before (unsuccessfully, I may add). Her video tutorial is clear and concise, and restored my faith in the ability to successfully complete a water-marbling manicure on myself. The end result is completely unique and absolutely gorgeous. Inside, I included a photograph of another marbling design Kimmie did, so read more…

Lookbook: New York Color Kiss Gloss, “Coral Reef”

product8

As the summer comes to a close, and we say goodbye to lazy days at the beach and the pool, many of us have a hard time letting go of summer-wear. Since South Carolina stays very warm through the better part of the fall, I don’t get to enjoy the switch of wardrobe like I did when I lived in New Jersey for most of my life. I still feel that loss, and while autumn is my favorite season, I still try to hang on to the last remnants of summer through cosmetics. New York Color’s “Sun Soaked” Collection for Summer 2010 is still available in many drugstores, and a Beauty Gala reader named this lip gloss from the collection as a “must-have.” The gorgeous coral shade is sheer and juicy on your lips, and leaves you with just a hint of color. Tutorial: Chelsea Chic Eyes, using New York Color Metro Quartet

eyeupclose5

This weekend, while casually strolling the cosmetic aisles in Target, I came across a New York Color Metro Quartet that I did not own yet, and it was absolutely beautiful. “Chelsea Chic” contains four eyeshadow shades, all exactly reminiscent of Chelsea, New York City, the sophisticated, artsy neighborhood. I made this look really stand out by applying black eyeliner on my upper lash line, and some false eyelashes. To see how to achieve this look, read more…

Tutorial: “Shore Thing” Eyes, using New York Color Metro Quartet

eyeupclose4

For this look, I used the New York Color Metro Quartet Palette in “Shore Thing” from their limited edition “Sun Soaked” Collection that is currently out in drugstores. This palette is very similar to the Almay “Enhance Blue Eyes” Eyeshadow palette, for only a fraction of the price. Boasting three gorgeous neutral shades, and a pop of sky blue, this palette reminds us beautifully of sitting on a beach, staring out at the water. To see how I used this palette and achieved this natural, eye-enhancing look, read more…

For this look, I used the New York Color Metro Quartet Palette in “Sandbar” from their limited edition “Sun Soaked” Collection that is currently out in drugstores. I love NYC eyeshadow, as it applies smooth and full of color, and this palette caught my eye with the pop of purple in it. To see how I used this palette and achieved this sultry look, read more…

Lookbook: New York Color “Sun Soaked” Collection, Limited Edition

collection

New York Color has released a limited edition collection for summer called “Sun Soaked,” and it features products that do just that: impart a warm, sunny glow to your face. When I saw the display, I cannot tell you how impressed I was with New York Color. They are working hard on expanding their brand, releasing collections, and amping up their products – and it’s paying off! Their products have great bang for the buck, and are full of rich pigmented color. To see what I purchased from the “Sun Soaked,” collection, read more…

Tutorial: Central Park Eyes, using NYC Cosmetics

eye3

Just the other day, I raved about NYC (New York Color), and their new product offerings, and showed you a hidden gem of a makeup palette I found in the drugstore. I did a “Cotton Candy Eye Makeup” look using their “Bryant Park,” palette. One of three palettes meant to enhance specific eye colors, but usable by every eye color, the “Central Park,” palette is meant for green eyes, and consists of neutrals: gold, brown, and a dark mocha. Tutorial: Cotton Candy Eyes, with New York Color Cosmetics

eyeupclose

Just the other day, I raved about NYC (New York Color) their new product offerings, and what a hidden gem they are on the cosmetics shelf. So, I figured, why not try out some more of their palettes? Walking out of the store with two NYC Individual Eyes Custom Compact’s, the expectations were high. Again, NYC did not disappoint. The “Individual Eyes Custom Compacts” are created specifically for different eye colors, in order to make them pop. However, I did not realize this until I got home, and saw that I had purchased both the blue and the green eyed palettes (which I happen to have!). Using the blue-eyed palette, “Bryant Park,” I created this playful cotton-candy inspired eye makeup look. Want to try this look on your own eyes? read more…

Lookbook: NYC City Duet Eyeshadows, Limited Edition Summer 2010

both

NYC (New York Color) Cosmetics has recently stepped up to the plate in the drugstore cosmetics industry. Fortunately for their company and consumers alike, they have hit it out of the park, designing new collections put together by renowned makeup artists. The newest limited edition collection includes City Duet Eyeshadows, which are specifically designed for the Summer 2010 season. Included in this display were several eyeshadow duets in varying colors from fuchsia and purple to plain white and black for a smokey eye. The shades I purchased were, of course, in punchy, colorful citrus colors for the season. At $2.99 a pop, these eyeshadow duets do not disappoint.
