The Summer 2012 collection from Revlon is called Summer Escapism, and we once again see Gucci Westman create a gorgeous, appropriate palette for the warmer weather. I spotted this palette when I was at the drugstore, ended up passing on it, and then went back to grab it because I really wanted to test out the colors. The shades in this palette remind me of a beach with the soft gray, blue, and brown. “Beach Beauty” is a beautiful array of shades that you can wear together or separately. I put together a quick look using the palette so you can see how the colors perform, as well. To see photographs, swatches, and my eye look using this new palette, read more…

The Metropolitan Museum’s annual Costume Institute Gala was held last night, and it is the perfect runway for stars to show up in their best. This, of course, means tons of inspiration for hair, makeup, and fashion. It’s so fun to see the dazzling ball gowns, the dolled-up faces, and who tries new trends or stays classic. Last night there were a ton of stars rocking a vampy, dark red lip, and it was full on glamour. Dianna Agron, the gorgeous beauty from Glee, was a vision in a bright green gown, and beautiful metallic eye makeup. She is always someone I look forward to seeing on any red carpet because she always has really great makeup and isn’t afraid to try new things. I recreated this look because it’s the perfect makeup for wearing out on the town or for a big event. It’s sultry, it’s smokey, and it’s has super shine power. This look was requested by lovely Beauty Gala reader Carly, and she even sent me the photograph of Charlize Theron to show how much she loved this makeup. It’s absolutely stunning, and best of all, it will take you less than five minutes to do! I used all drugstore products to achieve this look, and I was able to finish this off in a lightning-fast record amount of time. The skin is glowing and perfected with a dab of bright pink blush on the upper portion of the cheekbones. To see how to achieve this look and what products I used, read more…

First of all, I must fess up and let you know that I absolutely love Jennifer Lopez. Beauty wise, I have always found her to be one of my biggest inspirations in terms of hair, makeup, and skin. She always looks flawless, and she practically trademarked “the glow.” I decided to watch the newest Jennifer Lopez video on my Vevo iPad app (and yes, I still watch music video’s for the makeup/hair), where I was instantly attracted to the very first makeup look she was wearing. Between flashes of strobes I was able to capture a few screenshots of the gorgeous sparkling silver, purple, and pink look. It’s definitely a bold makeup look, but I think it would perfect for a “girls night out” or if you’re going out somewhere for a special night. It’s fun, it’s bold, and it looks great on every single eye color. To see how I achieved this look, read more…

Today was an unusually blustery day for us in the south, with temperatures in the mid sixties (I know, I know…that isn’t that cold), and gray skies. We finally got some much needed rain and I was inspired by the moody sky to create an eye makeup look that falls somewhere between blue and gray. This is a great way to make blue eyeshadow extremely wearable, especially since a lot of people are very intimidated by blue eyeshadow and find it to be “dated.” I used the City Color Multi-Flash Eyeshadow Palette which I swatched a few days ago on Beauty Gala. The second I spotted the brand new New York Color display in the drugstore, I picked this eyeshadow duo up and thought of Katy Perry at the 2011 Grammy Awards. She was way ahead of the color-blocking trend and showed us a bright but feminine purple and green eye makeup look. This is not only very trendy right now, but it’s also springtime, meaning…have fun with your makeup! I really like this look because it’s bright and eye-catching, but it still manages to be soft and simple. Taylor Swift 2012 ACM Awards Makeup Inspiration, using Milani Cosmetics “Abstract” Eyeshadow Palette
I didn’t personally watch the ACM Awards this week, but when I saw photographs of Taylor Swift at the awards I was happily stunned. She looked absolutely gorgeous and very mature with her bronzed smokey eyes, sky-high lashes, and sophisticated blow-out. It was definitely a departure from what we’re used to with Taylor Swift, which is super sweet, barely there makeup. I wanted to do an interpretation of the look with my brand new Milani Cosmetics Abstract Eyeshadow Palette, and while the look isn’t an exact recreation, it still has the same bronze smokiness, the dramatic eyeliner and lashes, and the neutral eyeliner on the lower waterline. Have you ever woken up with a sore throat and tried to wish it away throughout the day only to have it get worse? Well, that was my day yesterday, and today I am just a miserable ball of sickness, so I am going to try to keep this post short and sweet. Yesterday I swatched the new eyeshadow palettes from Milani Cosmetics, including Impressionist which is chock full of pastel deliciousness. I personally love pastels on everything…clothes, jewelry, makeup, you name it. Not only do I love it, but it happens to be a massive trend this spring and summer along with everything neon. With Easter Sunday approaching, I wanted to use this new palette to do a cotton-candy pastel eye look that you can recreate yourself, or you can easily swap it out with different pastel shades. To see plenty more photographs of this look, read more…

Happy Friday everyone! It feels like it has been a long week over here, but I am definitely glad it’s the weekend and time to relax again. I decided to pull out some drugstore products to create an eye look because there are so many great drugstore available options out there! If your budget doesn’t call for high-end makeup you can still purchase products with great pigmentation and create gorgeous looks. This look, Violet Sunset, is inspired by my favorite color of all-time…purple, and of course the sky during a sunset, when it takes on various shades of bronze, orange, and coral. Two unsuspecting colors complement each other very well by blending seamlessly into each other, and they each make the other stand out. To see how to achieve this look, the products I used, and more pictures, read more…

The first time I tried magnetic nail polish was when I spotted it in a Sephora store. I was so entranced by the idea that I actually dropped over fifteen dollars on a single bottle of it. Now that the trend has picked up, we see major brands coming out with magnetic nail polish such as the China Glaze Magnetix Collection. China Glaze changes the game up a little bit with a cool little gadget that contains three different magnet designs, as well. Oh, and the price of this nail polish is much more reasonable, at only $5.99 a bottle at Sally Beauty Supply. To see photographs, swatches, and how to use this nail polish, read more…
