Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Essie Nail Lacquer, “Angora Cardi,” Photographs & Swatches

The perfect fall color. If you close your eyes and visualize what that means to you, I bet Essie’s “Angora Cardi” comes close, if not dead on. To me, this shade is the epitome of autumn, offering a a burgundy cranberry shade that has hints of brown and mauve in it. It’s not too dark where it looks vampy, and it glides on to your nail with smooth, buttery opaque perfection. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

Lookbook Tutorial: Maybelline “Green With Fashion” EyeStudio Palette Makeup Look, Photographs & Tutorial

I recently reviewed and swatched Maybelline’s brand new limited edition EyeStudio palette “Green With Fashion.” I had many requests to do a look using the palette, and I was more than happy to do so because the colors are absolutely breathtaking. Since this palette has two neutral shades and two green shades, I wasn’t sure if I wanted to place the teal in the crease with a neutral eyelid, or place the teal over the entire eyelid. Both would be stunning, but in the end, the bright teal shade was tugging at my heart strings and I decided to do a smokey teal-green eye. To see photographs and how to achieve this look, read more…

Lookbook: TINte Cosmetics Flavored Lip Color, Peppermint, Photographs & Swatches

As I was going through the folder of products I’ve already tested and photographed, I stumbled upon a product that is a perfect fit for the colder seasons coming. TINte Cosmetics Flavored Lip Color has the most incredible vintage feel to it, and even brings me back to my childhood when I had lip balm in small slider tins. The photographs in this article were taken a couple of months ago, and my current tin has hit pan because I have used it so much! The flavor and smell is authentic, minty, and the lip color puts down beautiful, just-kissed red shading on your lips. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

Fall 2011 Lookbook: Bath & Body Works Halloween Spook-tacular!

Halloween is by far the runner-up to Christmas in my list of favorite holidays ever. In fact, sometimes I think I enjoy Halloween even more, but just don’t have as much fun with it anymore since I’m an adult. Either way, I go absolutely bonkers over anything that is Halloween themed, and these Bath & Body Works Halloween Spook-tacular products fit the bill. Bath & Body Works, in general, has been doing an incredible job with their fall displays and products, offering a huge assortment of themed products, as well as scented candles and limited edition scents. To see more of what Bath & Body Works is offering this season, read more…

Tutorial: Space “Galaxy” Inspired Manicure/Nails

I am a huge space-loving geek and proud of it. I have fond memories of my parents taking me to Kennedy Space Center in Florida when I was younger, and I still cherish those grainy photographs from the 1980′s. Since then, I have always been an avid reader and watcher of space developments, articles, and especially rocket launches. I decided to do space “galaxy” inspired nails, and I was happy with the way they turned out. The best part? They were really easy to do (no, really), and I will explain everything inside, read more…

New York Fashion Week Lookbook: OPI Nude Nails at BCBG Max Azria, Spring 2012

The trends at BCBG Max Azria for Spring 2012 Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week this morning included a lot of color-blocking, tribal prints, and easy-going, loose styles. The clothes were absolutely stunning and flowed in a detailed, complex manner. Of course, as a beauty addict, I was watching for the makeup, hair, and nails. The makeup, done by Maybelline, was absolutely gorgeous with fresh, dewy skin, nude eyes, and very rosy cheeks. The nails and toes were also nude and done by OPI Nail Lacquer in Samoan Sand. To see additional photographs from this morning’s show, read more…

Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Maybelline Scene on the Runway Collection, “Strut It Suede,” EyeStudio Palette, Photographs & Swatches

The other Maybelline EyeStudio palette that I picked up which is from the Scene on the Runway Collection is Strut It Suede. I was instantly drawn to the neutral, coffee-like hues of this palette, especially since they are so wearable for every single day. Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Maybelline Scene on the Runway Collection, “Green With Fashion,” EyeStudio Palette, Photographs & Swatches

I adore Maybelline’s EyeStudio eyeshadow palettes. If you need any proof, take a look back on some of the posts I’ve done on Maybelline within the past year, and you’ll see just how many palettes I own and love. When I found out that the Scene on the Runway Collection was coming out, and it was going to include some brand new, limited edition EyeStudio palettes, I knew I had to find them immediately! After completing what I affectionately call a “drugstore crawl” (you know, when you visit every drugstore in a twenty mile radius to find what you’re looking for), I finally came across the brand new limited edition palettes. To see photographs and swatches of the ever-gorgeous Green With Fashion, read more…

Beauty Gala Asks: What’s Behind The Makeup? – Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence at NYSE

When I reflect and think about what this website means to me, at the end of the day it is always about empowering women. Sure, putting on makeup and doing our hair helps us look and feel good on the outside, but on the inside, women have so much potential to reach their dreams and accomplish whatever it is they set their mind to. Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence is a non-profit organization which supports the growth among women-owned businesses in the United States from micro businesses into million dollar enterprises. For their national efforts, Nell Merlino, Founder and President, Count Me In for Women’s Economic Independence, rings The Opening BellSM, joined by esteemed members of the Make Mine a Million $ Business (M3) event steering committee, elected officials, long-time sponsors, and women business owners who have both benefited and hope to benefit from the power of the M3 program. Since I know I have many readers who dream of starting their own business, or maybe are even in the midst of owning their own business, I wanted this post to be both empowering and motivating… read more…
