Face Of The Day: Matching Makeup, Peach Eyes & Lips

Today was a fairly lazy day in my house, and it felt nice. I did have to go to an early morning doctor appointment (on a Saturday!), but I got to enjoy breakfast with my hubby, and it was nice to come back home and snuggle with our dogs for a few more hours afterward. We enjoyed a delicious lunch at a great small local place we frequent called “Libby’s,” and they have the most delicious sandwiches and wraps there! Lately, I’ve been on some kind of orange/copper/peach eye makeup kick. I feel like it really brings out the blue and green in my eyes, and I’ve been enjoying it with matching peach lips which is really trendy right now. I don’t usually match my eye makeup to my lips perfectly, but I’ve been enjoying the matching peach shades. To see what makeup I wore today, and a full product list, read more…

Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Dior Blue Tie Collection, “Blue Tie” Smoking Blue Eyeshadow Palette, Photographs & Swatches

The Dior Blue Tie Collection is all about the grey and blue smokiness, with beige-nude cheeks and lips. I am not typically a blue eyeshadow wearer, however, I think it’s a totally sophisticated way to switch up a smokey eye. I have always been a huge fan of atypical smokey eyes, using dark blues and greys, or purples instead. This palette is definitely luxurious, and something that high end cosmetic fans will love. Lookbook: Milani One Coat Glitter Nail Lacquer, “Silver Dazzle,” Photographs & Swatches

I picked up Milani One Coat Glitter Nail Lacquer in Silver Dazzle on a whim at my drugstore one evening several weeks ago. I am not quite sure what drew me to this particular shade since I tend to grab for really bright, neon shades in the summer. After applying this nail polish, though, I was very pleased with the formula and the shade. It completely screams rockstar without looking like you’ve tried too hard. It’s vampy and sexy, but also sophisticated and edgy, all at the same time. To see more swatches, read more…

Video Tutorial: DIY, How To Go From Blonde To Brunette At Home

I recently took my platinum blonde hair to a rich chestnut brown with some hints of auburn in it. Along the way, I turned my hair grey! I couldn’t find very many articles or video’s online about how to properly go from blonde to brunette (especially when you are a dyed-blonde to begin with), so I decided to share my hair disaster, how I fixed it, and how to seamlessly go from blonde to any dark shade your heart desires. I hope you enjoy!

Lookbook: Jesse’s Girl Eye Color Collection Palette, “The Eyes Have It,” Photographs & Swatches

I have previously written about the awesomeness that is Jesse’s Girl here on Beauty Gala, so you can imagine my shock and excitement when I ran into a few new displays containing actual Jesse’s Girl palettes! The Jesse’s Girl Eye Color Collection Palette contains nine eyeshadow shades. There were a few different palettes to choose from, so I started off with two of them. The Eyes Have It is the first one I am swatching on here, and it’s beautiful! A combination of blues, greens, and browns, the palette has the potential for a dramatic eye, but is also neutral enough to be everyday wearable. Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Dior Blue Tie Collection, Rouge Dior Lipstick, “428 – Pisanelle Pink,” Photographs & Swatches

Dior’s brand new line for autumn is called the Blue Tie Collection, and consists of gorgeous shades of blue and grey, along with beige, nude, and pink based lip colors and blushes. While I may not wear blue on my eyes very often, I am always smitten with lipsticks that have that beige-nude-pink tone to them. Not only do these colors go well with everything from an intense smokey eye to a bright blue or green eye, but they can also be worn to more demure occasions like a job interview, or to class for a more natural look. Pisanelle Pink is a gorgeous beige-pink lipstick that can be worn for all of the above occasions and more. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

Makeup Look: “Blue Blowout,” using Maybelline EyeStudio Color Explosion Palette

You may remember Beauty Gala’s review of Maybelline’s “Blue Blowout” palette. I typically like to do a tutorial and look with each makeup palette that I swatch and rave about, not only to give you an idea of what you can do with the palette, but also so you can see exactly what the colors look like on the actual eye. Blue eyeshadow looks are incredible for our brown and hazel eyed beauties because they really make your eye color stand out. I am not usually one to wear blue eyeshadow because I don’t feel it best suits my eye color (blue-green), but I definitely enjoy playing around from time to time. To see how to achieve this look, read more…
