Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Dior Blue Tie Collection, “Blue Tie” Smoking Blue Eyeshadow Palette, Photographs & Swatches

The Dior Blue Tie Collection is all about the grey and blue smokiness, with beige-nude cheeks and lips. I am not typically a blue eyeshadow wearer, however, I think it’s a totally sophisticated way to switch up a smokey eye. I have always been a huge fan of atypical smokey eyes, using dark blues and greys, or purples instead. This palette is definitely luxurious, and something that high end cosmetic fans will love. To see photographs, swatches, and a review,

This palette is heavy-duty, and even feels thick and somewhat heavy in your hands. My husband was surprised at how good quality it felt when he picked it up. The outside is pure silver and gives you a gorgeous reflection. There is no denying the pure beauty of this palette aesthetically!

The Blue Tie Palette contains four eyeshadow shades: a combination of blues and smokey greys, as well as a petal pink lip-gloss to finish it all off with. I was actually surprised to see a couple of bad reviews of this palette online from other beauty bloggers. I had absolutely no issues with the shades in this palette. I wouldn’t say the eyeshadows are as pigmented as a Wet n Wild palette, but they are still rich in color. I think with a Dior palette, you’re also looking for something slightly different than you would with a highly pigmented palette. You are looking for long-wearing eyeshadow, beautiful shades, and the ability to layer the eyeshadow if you prefer.

The eyeshadows are soft and velvety, and they apply with good pigment, but not great pigment. This makes them great for layering…whether you want a softer, daytime wearable smokey eye, or you want darker, richer colors for a night on the town.

I did have to dip my finger back into the shadow another time to get the above swatches, for a total of two times patting it down on my skin.

This palette also has a hidden petal-pink lip-gloss shade as you can see above. The lip-gloss is quite sheer, but gives off a pretty, moisturizing sparkle.

Overall, I really didn’t want this palette to get a bad reputation on the internet as being a total waste of your time. Whether you are a Dior lover, or you simply love high-end cosmetics, you won’t be disappointed in this palette. The eyeshadow shades are a tiny bit sheer at first, but within two coats, I was able to put down rich pigment. It is definitely a splurge makeup item, but if you love blue and grey eyeshadows, you will love this palette.
