On Friday, October 28th, my husband and I celebrated three years of marriage. Without getting too mushy on you, I will say that time with him seems to not exist, as it just simply flies by. We married on the beach of Kapalua Bay, in Maui, Hawaii, and it was the most heavenly sixteen days on the islands. Later that night, I wanted to make sure that I looked all dolled up for the occasion. I stuck with simple colors and shades, but amped it up with some sparkle and products that gave it serious staying power. If you’d like to see my anniversary makeup look, the products I used, and how I achieved the look,
I wanted a really glowing, candlelit effect to my makeup so I decided to use shimmering bronzes and browns, and really highlight my cheekbones.
See the sparkle on my eyelid? I bedazzled the bronze on my eye with some sophisticated shimmer/glitter. Here is how I got my makeup look:
Reviva Labs Makeup Primer is my favorite face primer of all-time. This product was sent to me and I have been using it non-stop since I received it. I want to do a separate post about this amazing face primer, but let me tell you, I have tried a lot of various brands. Some of them cause me to break out or clog my pores, but this has natural ingredients such as olive oil and vitamins to smooth skin, fill in fine lines, and make your makeup apply smoothly. You can wear this alone or over/under moisturizer. This primer makes my skin feel so silky smooth and it made my anniversary makeup last all night long.
Clinique Repairwear Laser Focus Makeup SPF 15 is a brand new foundation from Clinique, and I was curious to try it out. I typically love Clinique foundations because they are really gentle on your skin and don’t clog up my oily skin. I am in shade 05 and I used this to smooth my skin out and give myself an even complexion. It really feels lovely on my skin and it doesn’t make me look shiny after only a few hours, which is a must for me in a foundation.
Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette is one of my favorite Urban Decay palettes ever. I used the shade in the top right corner called “Deeper,” over my entire eyelid and also underneath my bottom lash line. It is a gorgeous glowing bronze shade that really lights up your eyes. Then, I applied “Blackout” into the crease of my eyes and blended it out well to add that smoked-out sexiness. All of these shades are super pigmented so a little goes a long way.
LASplash Eyeshadow Sealer/Base is my favorite base to use with any type of glitter or shimmer product. A few dabs of this product on top of your eyeshadow and you’re good to apply your glitter or shimmer straight to your eye. It has sort of a sticky consistency, making it perfect for glitter products…they won’t budge! I applied this directly on top of my eyeshadow so my shimmer would have something to stick to.
MAKE UP FOR EVER Diamond Powder in Smoky #15 is the glitter/shimmer I used over top of my eyelids. The texture of this powder is a little bit more like a finely-milled glitter, and it reflects gorgeous shades of bronze, orange, and blue. I simply used an eyeshadow brush to pat this on top of the LASplash eyeshadow sealer and it stayed put all night long without falling onto my face.
The photographs definitely do not do the shimmer on my eyelids justice. It twinkled and sparkled like you wouldn’t believe! Also used on my eyes:
- MAKE UP FOR EVER Smoky Lash Mascara
- Urban Decay 24/7 Eyeliner Pencil in “Zero”
For my cheeks, I contoured my cheekbones and nose using Physician’s Formula Mood Booster Bronzer, and for my blush I used NARS Orgasm. I highlighted my cheekbones using a Stila Illuminating Powder, and for my lips, I used Maybelline’s Baby Lips Lip Balm in “Pink Punch.”
And that is what I wore as my “anniversary makeup.” It’s always fun to get glammed up because you end up feeling confident, sexy, and sophisticated!
PS, Happy Anniversary hubby!
