Lookbook: Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm, “Pink Punch,” Photographs & Swatches

 

In September, during Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week in New York City, we saw Maybelline makeup artists use clear Baby Lips Lip Balm on the eyelids of the models for a glossy, natural looking makeup look. Since seeing the product packaging during NYFW, I have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of these lip balms in my local drugstores. First of all, the packaging is incredible and unexpected for Maybelline. It has that loud, flirty, young packaging that catches your attention instantly. Second of all, not only do these lip balms come in clear, but they also come in various shades, giving off gorgeous, sheer color while also hydrating your lips. What can I say? I am always a sucker for packaging, and these Maybelline lip balms deliver fantastically. Deviating from their usual packaging, these lip balms come in bright neon colors with playful fonts. It makes pulling these lip balms out of your bag that much more fun!

 

 

 

Pink Punch is a bright, semi-sheer bubblegum pink lip balm. I admit, I was skeptical at first, expecting this lip balm to put down little or no color at all, but this actually looks beautiful on the lips! The bubblegum pink color is definitely a little sheer, but a few swipes over your lips, and you are left with Barbie-doll pink lips that are super moisturized. Here are some of the benefits this lip balm boasts:

• Visibly renewed lips and 8-hour hydration

• The secret: Exclusive lip renew formula with SPF 20

• Protects and moisturizes lips for a full 8 hours

• After 4 weeks, lips are visibly renewed and  reborn

 

 

 

I personally enjoy the fact that this has SPF20 in it, and also that it has serious staying power. Once it was on my lips, it stayed on for hours and hours. In fact, I went to sleep with this lip balm on one night and in the morning I could still feel the product on my lips! It makes my lips feel super silky and soft, and still gives me that extra perky pink color.

 

 

Impressive for a lip balm, right? I have lip glosses in my collection that don’t even put down this much color! The formula is completely non-sticky and doesn’t have any type of synthetic or gross smell or taste to it, either. I will definitely be purchasing and trying out the other shades of Baby Lips because these are perfect for the colder months when your lips need extra TLC.

 

 

Maybelline Baby Lips Lip Balm is available in six varieties and retails for under $4 at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. I paid $3.79 for this product at my local Rite Aid, and actually found these in a two-pack for that price…talk about a bargain!
