Just the other day, I raved about NYC (New York Color) their new product offerings, and what a hidden gem they are on the cosmetics shelf. So, I figured, why not try out some more of their palettes? Walking out of the store with two NYC Individual Eyes Custom Compact’s, the expectations were high. Again, NYC did not disappoint. The “Individual Eyes Custom Compacts” are created specifically for different eye colors, in order to make them pop. However, I did not realize this until I got home, and saw that I had purchased both the blue and the green eyed palettes (which I happen to have!). Using the blue-eyed palette, “Bryant Park,” I created this playful cotton-candy inspired eye makeup look. Want to try this look on your own eyes?
- Bryant Park is made for blue-eyed babes, to really make your peepers pop and stand out. However, any beauty with any eye color can purchase and rock this eyeshadow palette confidently. The four eyeshadow colors are highly pigmented, soft, and rich. Bryant Park contains a pastel purple, a light gray, a medium purple, and a dark gray. Inside the palette, there is also an eyeshadow base primer, and a highlighting illuminator. The eyeshadow base worked beautifully as the first step to my eye makeup look, and I was very pleased with how well it kept my eyeshadow in place all day.
To achieve this look:
First, sweep the light gray shade over your entire eyelid, up to the crease.
Second, using a pencil or a crease brush, sweep the medium purple shade (third one) into your inner crease, working it out to about two-thirds of your eye crease. Focus fire this medium purple color on your eye crease closer to the inner corner of your eye.
Third, lightly pat down the pastel purple shade into the inner corners of your eyes, and as a highlight on your brow bone.
Fourth, pat the dark gray on the outer third of your eye, blending slightly upwards. Also, apply this dark gray to the entire lower lash line. Pick up a small amount of the medium purple shade you used in your crease, and apply this over the dark gray on your lower lash line. This will help to blend the colors together better, and also make your lower lash line pop beautifully.
Fifth, apply a bright purple eyeliner on your upper lash line. I used my CARGO Swimmables Eye Pencil in Funky Purple. Curl your lashes and use your favorite mascara on your upper and lower lash line.
Viola! Cotton candy eyes that look delectable and sweet.
For my lips, I used MAC’s “Fabby” lipstick, a pinkish-purple.
For my cheeks, I used MAC Mineralize Blush in “Conjure Up,” which is a dark plum limited edition blush.
Overall, the NYC Individual Eyes Custom Compact in “Bryant Park” was a fabulous find, in my opinion. The eyeshadows were rich in color, and applied smoothly. The shades really did help make my blue-green eyes pop, as well. I also purchased “Central Park,” for green eyes, and will be featuring this palette next. Having the eyeshadow base primer built into the compact is also a huge advantage.
They are currently available in three different palettes:
- Bryant Park: For blue eyes
- Central Park: For green eyes
- Union Square: For brown eyes
NYC Individual Eyes Custom Compact’s retail for $4.49 each, and can be found at your local drugstore, as well as large retailers such as Walmart and Target. I personally purchased mine at Target. You can find local locations by using the store finder tool. You can browse these palettes on the New York Color website, as well.
