NYC (New York Color) Cosmetics has recently stepped up to the plate in the drugstore cosmetics industry. Fortunately for their company and consumers alike, they have hit it out of the park, designing new collections put together by renowned makeup artists. The newest limited edition collection includes City Duet Eyeshadows, which are specifically designed for the Summer 2010 season. Included in this display were several eyeshadow duets in varying colors from fuchsia and purple to plain white and black for a smokey eye. The shades I purchased were, of course, in punchy, colorful citrus colors for the season. At $2.99 a pop, these eyeshadow duets do not disappoint. To see further photographs and a quick review,
- Bowling Green boasts two gorgeous green shades of eyeshadow: a slightly shimmery lime green, and a matte forest green. I was instantly drawn to this duo because, well, greens are some of my favorite eyeshadow looks to do, and because I loved the combination of the playful lime green next to the intense pigment of the forest green.
- Upper Zest Side is a duo of gorgeous citrus shades. An intense lemon yellow and a fiery orange is what caught my eye when I chose this eyeshadow duo. The shades remind me not only of citrus, but also of a beach sunset. Also, call me cheesy, but I love when cosmetics have kitschy names like this one.
So, of course, the million dollar question is, “How pigmented are these eyeshadows?” For $2.99 a duo, I was expecting flimsy, sheer color that simply didn’t pat down intensely. I was incredibly pleased with how much color each of these duo’s put out, and I would definitely go back for the other eyeshadow duo’s now that I know how pigmented they are. The colors are incredibly soft on your skin, as well. When used over an eyeshadow primer, these duo’s did not budge, crease, or sweat off my eyes for the entire day.
This limited edition collection of eyeshadows is also paired in a display with NYC lip glosses in varying candy-like shades. The entire Summer 2010 collection was designed by Mathew Nigara, a renowned makeup artist with years of experience in the film and fashion industry. Kudos to NYC for stepping up to the plate and turning heads in the drugstore cosmetics industry!
NYC Limited Edition Summer 2010 City Duet Eyeshadows retail for $2.99, and can be found at your local drugstore. The display I personally found was at my local Rite-Aid. To find a location nearest you, simply use the Where To Buy tool on their website.
