Lookbook: MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Cream

upcloseflash

MAKE UP FOR EVER is a fantastically artistic makeup line with highly pigmented, bold products meant for mixing, experimenting, and high drama. Aqua Cream, their latest product, is a waterproof and long-lasting cream meant for use on your eyes, cheeks, and lips. The shades are highly concentrated with mother-of-pearl and pigments in the twenty-two shades they offer. I personally purchased an Aqua Cream intended for use on the lips and cheeks, in #5 Peach. I was drawn to this shade because it looked like an exact replica of NARS famous and beloved “Orgasm,” providing a beautiful, universally flattering peachy-pink shade with a slight golden shimmer. Lookbook: 5 Minute Metallic Sea Makeup

mainimageuse1

Summertime is the most apropos time of year to wear colorful, bold eye makeup. As the temperature rises, clothes, accessories, and even nail polish gets brighter and more playful. This look combines a soft shimmering pastel eyelid with an unapologetic metallic pop of color right along the lash line. The look is a bit paradoxical, but it adds to it not being overdone. Lookbook: Maybelline EyeStudio Cream Eyeshadow Trio

triouse

While browsing my local CVS the other afternoon, I saw that Maybelline has added to their EyeStudio line with cream eyeshadow trios. The problem with most cream eyeshadows is that they do not stay put without creasing, no matter what eyeshadow primer you use. I absolutely love the EyeStudio ColorPlush quads that Maybelline sells, so I decided to purchase one and give it a shot. The above trio is in “Purple Possibilities,” and contains three cream eyeshadows. Did these eyeshadows crease, or did they live up to the marketing expectation? read more…

Milani Cosmetics has long won my heart from the start, but after seeing the Milani Runway Eyes palette in “Haute Couture” on their website, I fell in love immediately. The bright colors, the gorgeous array of shades, and the light shimmer to each eyeshadow makes this the perfect palette to use for fun eye makeup looks, especially for the summer. You may remember the Milani Sea Color look I did recently, using the “Beauty In Blues,” Runway Eyes palette. The Milani Runway Eyes palettes are handy, affordable eyeshadow “bricks” you can use to achieve pigmented, flawless eyes. read more…

Lookbook: NYX Eyeshadow Base in White

mainimage9

Eyeshadow bases have become a makeup routine staple in the past few years. Eyeshadow bases, also known as eyeshadow primers, are a “base coat” layer applied to your eyelid, allowing your eyeshadow to appear more vibrant, as well as increase wear time without having unsightly creasing. Unfortunately, with the increase in eyeshadow base interest comes a variety of brands and formulas, which can confuse consumers. Also, the majority of eyeshadow bases are fairly pricey, making the investment of an eyeshadow base fairly lofty, especially if you do not like your purchase. NYX Eyeshadow Base is one of my favorite eyeshadow primers, and it just so happens to be inexpensive and easily accessible. To see more photographs of this product, read more…

Lookbook: Sephora Favorites Best In Bronze Deluxe Sampler

mainimage8

Sephora Favorites are boxes of deluxe samples of a specific genre of beauty product. Some past “Sephora Favorites” have included mascara and perfume, which included deluxe samplers of the top selling mascaras and fragrances in a box. This time around, Sephora has done a “Best In Bronze” deluxe sampler, which is perfect timing, since it is summer, and everyone is looking to enhance their tan, or fake their tan. The Best In Bronze deluxe sampler includes ten of Sephora’s most loved bronzers and luminizers, allowing you to try a smorgasbord of products without the commitment, and the high price tag. To see more photographs, as well as a list of which bronzers are in this limited edition bronze sampler, read more…

Lookbook: Givenchy Summer 2010

mainimage7

At Sephora, I noticed Givenchy had a Summer 2010 Collection out, which is composed of some new products in very summer appropriate shades. I personally picked up two products from the collection: Givenchy Fleur de Frangipanier Compact Powder in 03 Island Tan, and Givenchy Pop Gloss Crystal Sun in 472 Island Guava. This collection was inspired by the Frangipani flower, also known as the Hawaiian Lei Flower (plumeria), which are colorful, bright, and unique to tropical regions. To see more photographs as well as learn about these two products, read more…
