The anticipation of this release had me very, very excited. The Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette is brand new and limited edition as part of the upcoming movie release. There are also lipsticks included in this collection. The palette is truly a one-of-a-kind beauty though, from the 20 brand new, exclusive eyeshadow shades to the stunning packaging. I’ve got full swatches and plenty of photographs inside,
One of the reasons I love Urban Decay so much is that no detail is overlooked when they are creating a product. The packaging on the Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette is sure to please any Disney or Alice in Wonderland fan. It perfectly captures the “psychedelic” nature of the story and imagery.
When you first open the palette, there is a huge quote that says “I’m not strange, weird, off, nor crazy, my reality is just different from yours.” On the mirror, it has the infamous quote “We’re all mad here.”
When you open the flaps where the quote is, you have a lovely 3D butterfly. It’s all a part of Urban Decay’s intricate attention to detail. The palette transports you to the world of Alice, and I truly cannot praise the packaging enough. It’s both adorable and a great piece of art itself.
The bottom portion of the palette slides out and there is yet another quote. Inside the palette are the 20 brand new, exclusive eyeshadow shades and a dual-sided eyeshadow brush.
There is such an eclectic mix of shades in the palette and I feel like that perfectly exemplifies the feeling of Alice in Wonderland. You have a mix of matte, satin, shimmer, and glitter shades, along with neutrals and pops of color.
Each of the 20 shades in this palette is named in reference to the movie. One of the best selling points of this palette is that every shade is brand new and exclusive to this palette. Many times brands will package a palette with already existing shades or at least include some already existing shades within it. My favorite palettes are ones that have all-new colors so you don’t have to worry about owning palettes with the same exact shades in it.
SWATCHES:
First row: Looking Glass, Hatter, Lily, Heads Will Roll, and Time. “Lily” has a really gorgeous duo-chrome pink flash to it that my camera would not pick up. All of these shades were perfect in just one swipe.
Second row: Reflection, Gone Mad, Duchess, Bandersnatch, and Dream On. The only shade in this bunch that needed 2-3 swipes instead of one was “Dream On.” I’d most likely use this shade with a damp brush to get the maximum effect. All of them were smooth and rich in color, though, and Bandersnatch was especially impressive for a flat, matte shade.
Third row: Dormouse, Paradox, Kingdom, Salazen Grum, and Chronosphere. This row contains your warmer neutrals. I was so impressed with the rich pigmentation and how smooth every shade was. The formula is not chalky or powdery at all.
Last row: Metamorphosis, Cake, Chessboard, Royal Flush, and Mirror. This row had wonderful pigmentation like the others, and my camera does not do “Royal Flush” and “Mirror” justice. They are incredibly shimmery and sparkly! The only shade I was a little disappointed in was “Metamorphosis,” because it needed a solid 3-4 swipes to put down opaque color. As long as you build on that shade with your eyeshadow brush, you will get full coverage.
The Urban Decay Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette is a crowd pleaser. Whether you’re a Disney fan or you’ve always loved Alice in Wonderland and the stories associated with Alice, you’ll find this palette exceeds expectations. As a makeup lover and artist, I can tell you that almost every shade in this palette is perfection in formula and pigmentation.
Urban Decay’s Alice Through The Looking Glass Palette is limited edition and available at Ulta Beauty stores nationwide, both online and in stores. Each palette retails for $60.00USD. You can purchase it online here.

That third row is AMAZING! I’d buy it just for those.
