When I was given the chance to review the entire Tresemme Split Remedy Hair Care Collection I was delighted because I had actually purchased and used the products before I received them. My hair has taken a lot of abuse throughout the past few years because I have what I like to affectionately call “Multiple Hair-Color Personality.” I am always changing my hair color and in the past year alone, I’ve been platinum blonde, red, dark brown, and dirty blonde. I’ve also got very long hair that reaches past my chest, and so keeping my hair healthy is an uphill battle. Since I don’t like to trim my hair very often (and I’ve only done it myself this year), I have to deal with split ends and breakage. Tresemme claims their products reduce split ends by up to 80% after just 3 uses. So did they?
The Tresemme Split Remedy Shampoo, Conditioner, Serum, Conditioning Spray, and Conditioning Treatment are meant to work in tandem to seal and heal your split ends and hair breakage. To start off with, I love Tresemme products, and I have purchased many, many bottles of their products throughout the years and use them myself because they are effective. I adore their “Climate Protection” products, and I use them on a daily basis. When I heard that the Split Remedy Collection was coming out, I knew I would need to give it a try because of how easily I am prone to split ends and breakage. Let’s back up for a quick moment and let me state that no product is a substitution for extremely damaged hair or hair that is in great need of a trim. These products will allow your hair shaft to start the “healing process” of being longer and stronger, as well as sealing the hair cuticle. This collection is also great if you know you’re in need of a trim, but need to put it off for a short period of time, because they will give you a really gorgeous, healthy look without the trim.
Let’s take a look at each product individually and what my thoughts were…
Tresemme Split Remedy Shampoo & Conditioner: These products are fantastic values if you are in the market for an inexpensive shampoo and conditioner that gets the job done well and still manages to contain a lot of product. Each bottle is 25 fl oz, meaning you get a ton of product compared to most other drugstore shampoo and conditioners. That being said, these two products are perfection for damaged, beat-up hair. They smell wonderful, but not overpowering, and really give you a professional quality feel. The shampoo lathers well, which I like. Something about shampoo that doesn’t lather really bugs me…I feel like I need that lather to have clean hair. The conditioner is not super thick, but not super thin either, and has almost a “slippery” feel to it when you apply it. I like to leave it in for a minute or two before rinsing it out. I’ve used this shampoo and conditioner after coloring my hair and I also felt it was great in that it didn’t fade my hair color at all. Something about my hair felt “stronger” after I used these products, even after just a week. I’ve been using these products for several weeks now, and my hair, in my opinion, feels healthier than it did before I started using the products.
Tresemme Split Remedy Leave-In Conditioning Spray: This spray is the holy grail of leave-in conditioners. I require a leave-in conditioner after I get out of the shower or my long hair will be a huge, knotty, tangled mess that ends up with even more breakage from trying to untangle. I love that this is in spray form, because I don’t like to touch a lot of hair products in my hands after a shower since I often apply my face moisturizer around that time, as well. The actual product when sprayed feels very soft and slippery in your hair, almost like silk. I always focus on the ends of my hair, and around the ends of my bangs (which are completely grown out at this point). I focus spray those area’s, and I notice a huge difference once I blow-dry my hair. The ends of my hair look softer, smoother, and aren’t frizzy and frayed.
Tresemme Split Remedy Leave-In Conditioning Treatment: This product is a leave-in conditioning treatment that you pump into your hand two or three times, depending on the length of your hair, and leave in before styling. The product has a creamy, medium-texture, almost like a styling gel, but it leaves your hair feeling super soft. With this product, I actually like to apply it to my entire head after I shower, being sure to work the product in well. This is more of a “styling conditioner,” meaning it is perfect to use before a blow-out or styling your hair because it will leave you with smooth, manageable hair. It definitely fights off the frizzies, as well! It has been super humid here and I’ve noticed that it completely smooths my hair shaft, making it look really shiny and long when I straighten it.
Tresemme Split Remedy Sealing Serum: If this was baseball, this product would be the closing pitcher. This product is clear and has a serum/oil consistency to it, so very little is needed to be effective. You can use this product while your hair is still wet or after you’ve styled your hair and it is dry. I actually use it for both. I apply it to the very ends of my hair while it is still damp, making sure to only use a tiny amount. Once my hair is dry and styled, I will apply a pea size amount that has been warmed up in my hands to the ends of my hair again to smooth them out and lock in shine. This product adds a lot of shine to your hair!
The Results On My Hair: My hair has continued to grow and I haven’t noticed as many stray hairs on my brushes and combs. I usually shed a lot of hair, but I feel like this product has helped with that. I’ve noticed that the ends of my hair look smoother and healthier without having to trim my hair. Here are some pictures of my hair…
