I didn’t personally watch the ACM Awards this week, but when I saw photographs of Taylor Swift at the awards I was happily stunned. She looked absolutely gorgeous and very mature with her bronzed smokey eyes, sky-high lashes, and sophisticated blow-out. It was definitely a departure from what we’re used to with Taylor Swift, which is super sweet, barely there makeup. I wanted to do an interpretation of the look with my brand new Milani Cosmetics Abstract Eyeshadow Palette, and while the look isn’t an exact recreation, it still has the same bronze smokiness, the dramatic eyeliner and lashes, and the neutral eyeliner on the lower waterline. To see photographs and how to achieve this look,
How To Achieve This Look:
- Apply the lightest champagne shade over your entire lid. This is going to be the lightest shade on your eyelid, and it’s also going to bring some light to your eyes.
- Apply the dark brown shade with a pencil brush across your entire crease and brow-bone area, tracing a cat-eye shape around your eye, all the way around to your lower lash line. Taylor Swift has a cat-eye shape with her brown eyeshadow, which extends completely around her entire eye, all the way to her lower lash line. The best way to do this is to trace the general shape with a pencil brush first, and then continue to build the color up and blend it out. Make the outer third of your eyelid dark with this shade, as well.
- Apply the bronze shade to your lower lash line quite liberally. Taylor Swift has a very noticeable bronze shade along her lower lash, as well as into the crease of her eyelid. Use this shade to blend out the dark brown, and it will be applied to those area’s. This will help bring light and reflection to your eyes, as well.
- Apply a white/flesh colored eyeliner to your lower waterline. Taylor’s lower waterline and lash-line does not have any darkness to it besides the eyeshadow. A neutral eyeliner will look best to open up your eyes.
- Apply a dark black liner to your upper lash line and apply false lashes. Create a flick at the end of your eye to go with the shape of the eyeshadow, as well. Make the line fairly thick and dark. Curl your lashes and apply mascara. Taylor Swift is wearing gorgeously dramatic lashes in her look, so I applied a thick pair of false lashes to top this look off.
For your cheeks, keep them sweet and simple by applying a peachy-pink blush to the apples of your cheeks.
For your lips, apply a peachy-pink lip gloss. Taylor’s lips are shiny and soft with a nude peachy-pink.
