Summer 2011 Lookbook: Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Balm, “Peach Crystal”

Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Balm is brand new for summer 2011, and is out in all of their colorful summer displays. I was excited for this product because I love their Super Lustrous lip glosses that they released this past season, and I was expecting gorgeous peachy coral color out of this product. Want to see photographs, swatches, and my thoughts on this product?

Peach Crystal is a sheer peachy coral lip balm with loads of shine and sheen to it. The smell is very sweet, almost fruity, and in my own opinion, actually smells good, and not overly synthetic or strong. This lip balm is also SPF15 which is extremely important during the sunny, hot months. I always hate to get preachy about this, but it’s very important that you not only protect the skin on your body, but also on super sensitive parts of your body like your lips which burn easily. I always make sure that the lip balm I use has SPF in it.

I was not initially thrilled about having to apply this lip balm with my fingers, since its not only unsanitary, but it also ends up getting your fingers dirty. This lip balm has a small pull out brush on the underside of the product. I thought it was a nice touch by Revlon, and since this is sheer lip balm, the lip brush is good for applying this product without making a mess.

I absolutely love the way this lip balm feels on the lips. It’s super smooth and has a slight shimmer to it, making your lips look larger and more luscious. The problem with this product is that it is little more than a sheer, semi-tinted lip balm with SPF. If you’re not into your lip balms, and would rather wear lipstick or gloss, then you will find this product to be essentially an overpriced lip product. I paid around $5 for this lip balm, which holds 0.25oz of product. I play my eye makeup a lot more often then my lips, so for me, this lip balm was a good investment. I can simply sweep this on during the daytime for a sheer punch of color and shimmer, with the added benefit of extreme moisture. I personally always use my EOS Lip Balm, but for days when I want a tiny bit of pretty color and shimmer, I use this.

If you’re a big lip balm fan, or you simply prefer a moisturizing formula with a little something extra, then this product will please you. For those not into lip balms, you may want to skip this. I also saw this lip balm in a punchy Barbie pink shade. Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Balm is available at drugstores nationwide.
