Another incredibly fun new launch from OPI Nail Lacquer, this time inspired by The Amazing Spider-man movie, set to open July 3rd, 2012 in theaters. I actually saw the preview for this movie while I was waiting to see The Hunger Games, and I have to tell you, I absolutely love Emma Stone. I think she is perfect for the role of Gwen with her girl-next-door likeability. Whether you’re a fan of superhero movies, or you just love nail polish, I think this collection has a little somethin’ somethin’ for everyone.
“OPI is so excited to work with Sony Pictures in welcoming Spider-Man back on the big screen,” explains Suzi Weiss-Fischmann, OPI Executive VP & Artistic Director. “This film explores a new chapter in the Spider-Man legacy that’s going to be both dark and sexy. The colors created for this promotion capture the movie’s exciting atmosphere, with standout shades like the deep shimmering blue Into the Night and the metallic golden green Just Spotted the Lizard.”
To see photographs and swatches of the full collection,
Number One Nemesis is described as a “sparkling nickel,” and I think that is pretty apropos. It has a really pretty light-reflecting, metallic quality to it that glows an olive green. This polish took two coats, although one coat would have been plenty opaque. All swatches in this post will have two photographs: the first one with flash, and the second in natural lighting.
Into The Night is a midnight blue with an incredible after-glow in the lighting. This is such a gorgeous polish color because it looks darker around the edges and then really lights up in the middle of the nail. This polish was a bit sheer, so it took two thick coats to get the below swatches.
Just Spotted The Lizard is a very cool duo-chrome polish that reflects gold and teal-green. I have a feeling this will be the popular polish of the bunch because of how similar it is to the infamous sold-out Chanel “Peridot.” I own the Chanel polish and I can tell you that these two are basically dupe’s for one another. This is a beautiful shade that applies wonderfully in just two coats.
Call Me Gwen-Ever is a “burnt” coral-orange. I am using the word “burnt” because it’s got that slightly darkened look to it. It’s a really pretty shade, and definitely a departure from the usual, cookie-cutter coral oranges we’ve seen this season so far. This shade was applied with just two coats and was super smooth.
Your Web or Mine? is a metallic pink. This one is pretty, although, I sometimes shy away from metallic colors because you can see brush strokes if you don’t apply it evenly. This one had wonderfully opaque coverage though, so it was a dream to work with.
Shatter The Scales is a deep green shimmer shatter polish. Just when I thought I was over the whole shatter trend, they have to go and release a gorgeous shimmering forest green! My husband remarked that he thought this polish was a “cool shade for a shatter.” That must mean something, right? I applied this over “My Boyfriend Scales Walls,” which we’ll see swatched next. I can see this shatter looking especially gorgeous over a neon green polish.
My Boyfriend Scales Walls is a “cityscape white,” which is a really eloquent way of saying it is a grayed-out white creme. I actually really like this one because it makes your fingers look super tan, but it’s not pure white. This is the perfect shade to combine with any neon color, such as neon pink or green. The neutral, light shade paired with a neon is so on-trend this spring and summer!
Overall: This collection has something for everyone, whether you love metallics, shatter, creme, or duo-chrome nail polish. I really admire the variety in this collection.
