First of all, I must fess up and let you know that I absolutely love Jennifer Lopez. Beauty wise, I have always found her to be one of my biggest inspirations in terms of hair, makeup, and skin. She always looks flawless, and she practically trademarked “the glow.” I decided to watch the newest Jennifer Lopez video on my Vevo iPad app (and yes, I still watch music video’s for the makeup/hair), where I was instantly attracted to the very first makeup look she was wearing. Between flashes of strobes I was able to capture a few screenshots of the gorgeous sparkling silver, purple, and pink look. It’s definitely a bold makeup look, but I think it would perfect for a “girls night out” or if you’re going out somewhere for a special night. It’s fun, it’s bold, and it looks great on every single eye color. To see how I achieved this look,
How To Achieve This Look:
For this look, I am using my BH Cosmetics Palette (#1). I love these palettes because they are priced well and you get a huge variety of colors. Since this look has a lot of shades of purple and pink blended together, I knew I needed a big palette with plenty of variety. You can use any similar eyeshadow you have in your collection!
- Apply the shimmering silver over your entire eyelid and across your lower lash line. Jennifer Lopez is famous for her shimmering inner eyelids, so be sure to focus this color there, and even apply some of the lighter champagne color there, as well. We want to bring a lot of light to inner part of the eye since the rest of it is so dramatic.
- Apply a fuchsia purple to your crease area, bringing it across the entire crease to the beginning of your eyebrow. Jennifer has this color across her entire crease area, making it very dramatic. The color I used was the pink-purple in the second row, third from the right. I also swirled a little bit of the cooler lilac shade (same row, all the way to the left) with this shade to give it depth.
- Use a brighter pink-purple shade to blend the previous color out even more, bringing it up to your brow-bone. I used the shade highlighted in the pink square that is closest to the bottom of the palette. I used this to blend out the crease color and add a blended out gradient that shows a pop of hot pink on top of the purple. Again, make sure you apply this all the way toward your inner brow area.
- Apply a dark grape purple to your crease with a pencil brush. You want to create a cut-crease with this dark purple, so you will need to use a very precise brush. Apply it to the crease only, and also blend into the outer third of your eyelid. This will create a somewhat smokey look and give the look the depth it needs.
- Apply a shimmering silver to your brow-bone, focusing mostly on the center. Jennifer Lopez has a very strong silvery highlight under her eyebrows, especially in the center. Remember, this is a dramatic look!
- Apply a silver/gray based shimmer or glitter over your eyelid and into the inner corners of your eyes. I used MAC’s Reflects “Pearl” which is a very finely milled glitter that adds extreme shimmer. I also dragged this along the lower lash line, on top of the gray eyeshadow we applied there. We want the lightest area’s of the eye to POP!
- Apply black liquid/gel eyeliner to your upper lash line. I also applied a thin black line on my lower water-line for extra definition. Curl your lashes and add mascara.
