I stopped into my local Ulta yesterday (hey, it was next to Whole Foods!), and I picked up two of the new NYX Butter Lipsticks. This was my first time seeing them and since they were buy one, get one 50% off in Ulta, I grabbed my two favorite shades, Taffy and Licorice. I know a lot of people are huge fans of the NYX Butter Gloss, and since I’m more of a lipstick kind of gal, I had to jump at the chance to try these. They did not disappoint! Smooth as can be, they were moisturizing and opaque in color. Check out swatches inside!
There were more than several shades available in the display. I confess, I had a hard time choosing which ones I wanted! They had everything from a pale beige nude to a dark violet.
Taffy is a bright bubblegum pink. Think: Barbie. That is what it reminded me of at first sight. It’s bright and yet there’s a softness to it. It’s definitely one of my favorite lipstick shades of all time. It’s classic, and feminine, and it never goes out of style to wear this shade of pink. It was super pigmented and needed just a couple of swipes to put down great pink color. The formula on these lipsticks is like a dream. You’re getting soft, moisturized feeling product that doesn’t dry out your lips.
Licorice is a blackened red shade. You know I had to go for a color like this one! I love my dark, vampy lip colors and I think they look so sexy on people. This one was so rich and dark in color and it felt amazing on my lips. There’s nothing worse than a lipstick that makes your lips all chapped and dried out. If you’re like me, and need hydrating lip products, these are a great choice.
Overall, I’m now at a point where I need to go back for additional shades! These are only $5.99 USD each, making them a major beauty bargain. They’re so rich in color and they literally melt onto your lips, leaving them moisturized and healthy.
The NYX Butter Lipsticks are available at Ulta stores nationwide, as well as online at NYX’s website. Each Butter Lipstick retails for $5.99 USD each. On my next trip to Ulta I am scooping up more shades!

I tried these and apparently I don’t know how to pick colors for myself when it comes to lipstick. I say do a post on how to find your best shade, please 😀

I’m actually a huge believer in that 99% of lipsticks look good on everyone and anyone…it’s all about what you pair it with. The only exceptions are when someone with a really warm skin tone wears a very light, cool toned lipstick and gets that “chalky” look or when a very cool-toned, fair skinned person wears a very warm shade. Otherwise I really think there are no barriers when it comes to lipstick shades!
