The Color Club Untamed Luxury Collection has been released, and it is quite gorgeous, with dark vampy colors, and a unique topcoat called “Covered in Diamonds,” which you see above. You may remember the buzz over Sally Hansen’s Hidden Treasure nail polish, which literally was like a hidden treasure for most to find. “Covered in Diamonds” has a similar concept, though not an exact dupe, and still ends up having a cool, iridescent flaky effect when layered. Jewel of a Girl is a darkened burgundy-wine color, with hints of purple in it. This is truly a gorgeous shade, and it is one of those polishes that gives off the effect of it “glowing” on the nail. The color looks dark around the edges, but the shade really stands out right in the middle of the bottle, and on your nail. I painted my nails with two coats of this shade before moving on to the next step.
Covered in Diamonds is a topcoat with iridescent flakes, that makes each and every single nail polish shade you layer it over unique. The effect is not quite the same as Sally Hansen’s Hidden Treasure when layered, and the differences are that the flakes in this polish have different reflect colors, and the flakes are chunkier. This polish is somewhat thick and goopy, but not thick enough to where you cannot work with it as a topcoat. Your best bet is to run it along your nail twice, and then apply your favorite top coat. This polish does leave a texture to your nails and is not completely smooth, but it still looks gorgeous enough when layered over various nail polishes that I continue to love it.
The overall effect is really unique, and it makes every polish shade look slightly different. I’ve layered this over dark blues, greens, and even a pink, and it came out looking really fun and unique.
