The brand new MAC Cosmetics Fantasy of Flowers Collection was released, and I was instantly all over several of the items because I just couldn’t resist. The collection is geared toward spring shades and colors, and I think after last weeks snowstorm here in the south, I’m ready for some warm, sunny days. There was a free overnight shipping code that I used for one of my items (I didn’t have the code yet for the other item), so I received the Petal Power blush yesterday. It was calling my name because of the insanely gorgeous gold reflect it has to it. Seriously, put glitter, shimmer, or gold reflects into a makeup product and I have no self restraint whatsoever! Swatches of this stunning blush are inside…
Petal Power is a coral pink shade with really noticeable gold shimmer in it. This is stunning. I knew from the description alone that I wanted it, and I was hoping it would be as pretty in person as it sounded. It reminds me of NARS’ “Orgasm” Blush in some ways, except I think Petal Power is pinker and has a little less gold in it, or at least reflects it differently than NARS’ “Orgasm.” It’s perfectly rich and pigmented, as well as smooth, and the texture is lovely. When this shade hits the light, it’s absolutely breathtaking. It gives you that really healthy, glowing look.
A lot of people are hesitant to wear shimmer on their cheeks because it can emphasize pores and problem spots, but I actually really liked the “blurring” effect this blush gave me. It highlighted the apples of my cheeks and the golden reflects helped the light to bounce off my cheekbones.
Overall, I found it to be a really flattering blush shade for my skin tone. I think Petal Power will work well on a variety of skin tones, and if you’re a fan of golden shimmer, you’ll love this one.
MAC Cosmetics “Petal Power” Blush is part of the Fantasy of Flowers Collection. It is currently available online at MAC’s website. Each blush retails for $25.00 USD. The collection releases in stores on February 6th, 2014.
