I am back from a mini-vacation to Florida, where I was hoping to see space shuttle Endeavour blast off straight from Kennedy Space Center. However, we received word on Saturday morning that there were malfunctions, and it wouldn’t be blasting off anytime soon. We still had a fantastic break of swimming, eating, shopping, and sightseeing, and I chose to relax during that time, so my apologies for the break in posts. For those of you lucky ducks who get to watch Endeavour take off this week, be sure to let me know how fantastic it was!
My amazing friend and fellow beauty blogger Annabella at Skin Scrubs sent me some beauty goodies straight from the UK, where she lives, that are not available here in the United States. One of the several item she sent me was the Sleek Makeup Storm Palette, which contains twelve gorgeous neutral and smokey colors in it. Beauty bloggers and makeup addicts have been abuzz about Sleek Makeup products, noting their great quality and pigmentation. Annabella picked out an amazing palette for me, because I absolutely love neutral and smokey eyeshadow, and it is typically what I wear the most on a daily basis. To see photographs and swatches of this palette,
The Sleek Makeup Storm Palette contains twelve gorgeous neutral and smokey eyeshadows, encased in packaging that fits in the palm of your hand. For those of you wondering, this is very similar to the ever-sold-out Urban Decay Naked Palette, which many people are still searching high and low for. I lucked out bigtime on the Naked palette, and happened to take a trip to Ulta the day they got their shipment in back in early August 2010. If you are frustrated and want something similar, I’d highly recommend this palette, as it has the same light, beige-neutral shades coupled with the darker smokey shades. If you don’t live in the UK, you can search eBay for this palette, which is going for a very fair price, and is less expensive than the Naked palette.
G-o-r-g-e-o-u-s. I was trying to find fault in this palette (I do this to give you all the most accurate review possible), but I honestly could not. Each shade is silky and soft, and applies smoothly on your skin. None of the eyeshadows were chalky or overly powdery, and each color had the intensity and opacity of a very high-end eyeshadow. There is a healthy mix of shades in this palette, so there is something for every type of neutral or smokey eye you are trying to create, whether it has a flash of metallic green or blue, or you create just a simple champagne and brown smokey eye. Since the day Annabella sent this palette to me, I have been using it every single day. I even took this palette with me to Florida on our trip…and I didn’t bring a single other eyeshadow or palette with me! With an eyeshadow primer underneath (I use Urban Decay Primer Potion), these lasted me from 8am to 11pm, through the heat, sun, and humidity of Florida. Very impressive. I can tell you that I will be, without a doubt, purchasing the other Sleek palettes from eBay!
