Chanel’s “Paradoxal” Nail Colour is the “it” color of the Fall 2010 season. This polish has sent nail polish enthusiasts and fashion lovers alike in a tizzy, and rightfully so. The apropos named shade, “Paradoxal,” is a mix of gray violet with flashes of bright purple shimmer. I think we can all relate to having paradoxal aspects to our personality. For instance, I am a beauty addict and lover, but I love to play sports and get down and dirty. “Coco Chanel’s iconic style was a study in contrasts. She boldly mixed black and white, masculine and feminine, classic and modern. Paying tribute to her unique vision, Peter Philips, Global Creative Director of CHANEL Makeup, has created a makeup collection for Fall 2010 that brings bold emphasis to the eyes, and keeps lips soft and delicate.” This nail polish is a perfect tribute to her contrasting style, and comes off as both sophisticated and fun on your nails. There is something about Chanel…perusing the Chanel counter, you feel glamorous, luxurious, and special, whether you purchase a product or not. When I take home a Chanel product, I often find myself staring at the packaging, for it’s sophistication and beauty.
Paradoxal is an aptly named gray-violet nail polish with a shock of bright purple shimmer when it hits the light. Though the color looks more violet in the bottle, it actually appears more gray on the nails, and is actually quite dark indoors. When it hits the light, the hot purple shimmer is revealed, and you can see the intricate shimmer inside the shimmer, which is composed of bright purple, red, and blue tones. Paradoxal is really quite a complex shade, looking completely different depending on the angle and the light in which you are viewing it. Overall, Paradoxal is a gorgeous, rich shade for fall, and a unique take on the typical “greige” shades we have seen all over the runways since the spring.
Since this polish is so complex in color, I took plenty of photographs of the bottle in various angles, lighting, and positions…
The formula and application of this nail polish was exactly what I expected from a Chanel nail polish: flawless. The color was opaque and rich, the brush allows precise application around your cuticles, and you need at most, two coats. It simply does not get better than this in terms of nail polish formula.
Quite frankly, I do not have anything like this in my nail polish collection. The shade is extremely unique, and it is flat out gorgeous. I have had my eye on this shade for several weeks now, and I have no regrets investing in this shade.
Chanel “Paradoxal” retails for $23 and is currently available at Chanel.com and at Chanel counters nationwide.

It’s definitely a gorgeous shade but I refuse to drop $23 on a bottle of nail polish…unless it will also paint my nails for me lol.

HAHA! I don’t blame you fashionista! I must have contemplated buying this polish at least 15 times. This is my most expensive nail polish, and definitely a once in a blue moon splurge…unless I hit the lottery!
