It’s no secret that MAC Pigments are one of my favorite beauty inventions of all time – loose, rich, pigmented color in a jar that will last you forever is a useful beauty tool for eye makeup. Some of the pigments can even be used on the lip and cheek area to make custom colors for lip color and blush. While I wouldn’t say my personal MAC Pigment collection is extensive, I do own quite a few of them, and so far, “Copper Sparkle” is by far my favorite. As soon as I swatched it at the MAC counter, it reminded me of a brand new shiny penny that had been melted onto your skin. The color is lustrous and sparkly, rich with pigment, and yet oddly neutral. To see more photographs and swatches,
Copper Sparkle is a described by MAC as “super frosty copper flecks.” This pigment does have more “flecks” in it then just being a pure fine powder like most pigments are. The formula is just as easy to work with as a regular pigment, and the flecks actually make the pigment seem even more rich in color – meaning, you only need a few taps of this shade to get some serious color payoff. Copper Sparkle has a very sparkly, shimmering frost to it, making it look very shiny and bold. In fact, the color reminds me exactly of the shiniest, newest penny you can find, melted into powder form. While this color is a “notice me” shade, it has that neutrality of a brown eyeshadow. You can wear this pigment alone on your eyelids for simple, beautiful color, or you can dress this shade up by adding a pop of blue or purple with it. Copper Sparkle will make dark eyes stand out in sparkling contrast, and it will make light eyes look bluer or greener because of the copper tones in it. Imagining this pigment on dark skin makes my knees weak, because quite frankly, it is complete gorgeousness.
Copper Sparkle is especially beautiful for special events and holidays. When I saw this pigment, I thought of a glamorous event or party, or a holiday such as New Year’s. It is also a shade that is appropriate for all four seasons, looking bronzed and shimmery for summer, and yet carrying you into the colder months of the holiday season. I can see myself wearing this pigment right now for the end of the summer with glowing, luminous skin, and a sheer pink lip. I can see myself taking this pigment into the fall season, using it to layer on top of a dark brown eyeshadow for some sparkling pop. The possibilities with a bold, yet neutral hue are endless.
When you apply this pigment wet (with a wet makeup brush from water or a mixer), the color becomes even more smooth, and more dramatic. The wear on this pigment is like all other MAC pigments – you can wear these for hours upon hours through heat and sweat, and they won’t crease or budge.
MAC “Copper Sparkle” retails for $19.50 at your local MAC Cosmetics counter, or at MAC Online.
