Matte is back! Matte beauty trends have been on fire this season, from lipstick to nail polish. The Fall 2014 Zoya Matte Velvet Nail Polish Collection is here and it is composed of 6 matte nail lacquer shades that come with a completely flat, non-shiny finish. I’ve got swatches of the entire collection inside!

Harlow is a medium purple shade with loads of shimmer in it. I love when matte shades have shimmer in them! This is part of the reason I am in love with Zoya’s Pixie Dust polishes, too. When something has shimmer or glitter in it, but has a flat finish, it just looks really cool. This shade was plenty pigmented and needed only 2 coats. As a purple lover, I adore this one.
Veruschka is a gorgeous emerald green with small amounts of shimmer in it. I would have to say that this shade of green is my second favorite color in the world. Show me an emerald and I am all over it! This one was nice and opaque and I love how it looked once it dried down and became matte.
Savita is a cool-toned grape purple with small micro-shimmer in it. Another interesting shade because the shimmer in it really looks “suspended” in the middle of the color and doesn’t sit on top of the polish. This one was good in just 2 coats.
Loredana is my favorite of the collection and definitely surprised me when I applied it from the bottle. It looks like just another grey in the bottle, but out comes this gloriously metallic, shimmery grey that looks both matte and brilliant at the same time. This is such a classic, chic color and I love it. Only 2 coats were needed and it applied like a dream.
Dovima is a darkened grey-black. This reminds me of matte leather. It’s nothing special or extraordinary, but the formula on this one was good in just 2 coats.
Posh is a classic bright red with a matte finish. You can never go wrong with classic red nails and more often than not, you’ll find red polish on my nails! This was opaque in 2 coats and I will definitely be rocking this one during the holiday season.
Overall, this collection has a nice formula and all of them were smooth and opaque in 2 coats. One thing about matte finish polishes is that they will show streaks or imperfections more. Matte nails are definitely an acquired taste and trend, but I am digging this trend and this collection for the most part. It’s also worth mentioning that all of these can double as regular nail polishes if you want them to…just add a shiny topcoat!
The Fall 2014 Zoya Matte Velvet Nail Polish Collection is limited edition and available at Zoya’s website now. Each nail polish retails for $9.00 USD each, or you can get the entire collection for $54.00 USD. Zoya is also available at Ulta stores nationwide!
