My Current Favorite Lip Product: Maybelline Super Stay 24hr 2-Step Lip Color, “Constant Coral,” Photographs & Swatches

Every once in awhile, I get hooked on a particular lip product and I find myself using it over and over again without adding in any other variety. I purchased this Maybelline Super Stay 24hr 2-Step Lip Color a few weeks ago, and I thought it would be “just another lip color.” I could not have been more wrong! This shade, Constant Coral, is stunning, and so versatile, and the best part is that it stays put for literally an entire twenty-four hours. I was kind of excited to post this today because I went for a routine dental cleaning this morning, and I was quite nervous. Just fairly normal dentist jitters…but everything looked really good, and I was even able to share my website with the dental hygienist there, Joan, (hello if you’re reading!) who made me feel very much at ease. That being said, I was eager to show off my smile with this dazzling coral shade. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeshadow Palette, “Casual,” Makeup Look

I recently swatched the brand new Physician’s Formula Shimmer Strips Eyeshadow Palette in Casual, and I wanted to do a coordinating makeup look using the shades in the palette. I decided to go with a look that would make my blue-green eyes pop because the palette has a lot of gorgeous blue eyeshadow in it, which may intimidate those of us with lighter eyes. This look will look gorgeous on anyone, and the palette is universally flattering, so here is a look that proves that! To see photographs and how I got this look, read more…

Spring 2012 Release: Milani Cosmetics Haute Flash Full Coverage Shimmer Lipgloss Collection, Photographs & Swatches

The brand new Milani Cosmetics Haute Flash Lipgloss Collection is so bright and bold that I am completely in love. There is a nice mix of something for everyone within the collection as well, including shades for darker complexions and very fair complexions. Each lipgloss has insane pigmentation and shimmer, and the formula is completely non-sticky and not gritty at all. Formula wise, these are great shimmer lipglosses if you’re looking for full coverage color and something that doesn’t feel like sand on your lips! Taylor Swift 2012 ACM Awards Makeup Inspiration, using Milani Cosmetics “Abstract” Eyeshadow Palette

I didn’t personally watch the ACM Awards this week, but when I saw photographs of Taylor Swift at the awards I was happily stunned. She looked absolutely gorgeous and very mature with her bronzed smokey eyes, sky-high lashes, and sophisticated blow-out. It was definitely a departure from what we’re used to with Taylor Swift, which is super sweet, barely there makeup. I wanted to do an interpretation of the look with my brand new Milani Cosmetics Abstract Eyeshadow Palette, and while the look isn’t an exact recreation, it still has the same bronze smokiness, the dramatic eyeliner and lashes, and the neutral eyeliner on the lower waterline. To see photographs and how to achieve this look, read more…

Spring 2012 Lookbook: LORAC Lips With Benefits Lip Gloss, “Mark,” and “Alex,” Photographs & Swatches

LORAC recently released a set of lip glosses called Lips With Benefits and they are incredible. First of all, look at that packaging! The swirls of sparkle and striped hues are so eye-catching and add a little something extra, not to mention the colors are gorgeous. These lip glosses smell absolutely heavenly, like a cross between creme brulee, caramel, and cotton candy. Each lip gloss is completely non-sticky and lasts a long time on the lips. I have two to swatch and show you in this post. To see photographs and swatches, read more…

LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette Series: SMOKEY Look

The third and final look in my LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette Series is SMOKEY. The smokey look is all about being sultry, sexy, and sophisticated. You can still amp your eyes up in a sophisticated way with a neutral palette of colors by creating a gorgeous bronzed smokey eye. This look is inspired by the always gorgeous Olivia Wilde who is often seen in bronze and chocolate smokey eyes. If you have blue or green eyes, this look is going to make your eyes look even lighter, and if your eyes are hazel or brown, this look will make them look extra sparkly. LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette Series: FUN Look

The second look in my LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette Series is all about being playful, colorful, and fun. Neutral eyeshadow shades are the perfect complement to some brightness, whether it be on your lips, cheeks, or even your eyes, in the form of a bold eyeliner. I decided to add some sparkling turquoise eye liner to give the look a major pop and create some fun. This is actually my favorite way to wear really bright eyeliner and I regularly pair nude eyeshadow shades with brights along the lash line.  To see photographs and a tutorial on this look, read more…

LORAC Unzipped Eyeshadow Palette Series: GLAM Look

I decided to do a three-part series of makeup looks using the LORAC Unzipped Palette that I just reviewed and swatched here on Beauty Gala. It’s a gorgeous palette of shimmery and matte nude shades and the possibilities are endless! I decided my first look would be a “GLAM” look, the type you’d wear for that classic, bombshell, night-out-on-the-town face. To see the tutorial and plenty more photographs of the look, read more…

Spring 2012: Wet n Wild Matte Lipsticks, “Don’t Blink Pink,” “Pinkerbell,” and “24 Carrot Gold,” Photographs & Swatches

I recently picked up three of the new Wet n Wild Matte Lipsticks at the drugstore because I was loving the color selection. While I am a huge fan of the matte lip look, I usually shy away from matte lipsticks because they can be really drying and sometimes flake or feather on your lips. I picked up three shades, all bright, in-your-face spring colors, and I put them to the test. If you’d like to see more photographs and swatches, read more…

MAC Sheen Supreme Lipstick, “Insanely It,” Photographs & Swatches

MAC introduced Sheen Supreme Lipsticks recently, and I have to say, these are pretty amazing. They are much softer and creamier than your typical lipstick and impart a nice sheen to your lips. It’s sort of somewhere between a lipstick and a lip gloss, and they actually remind me a lot of the Revlon Lip Butters. I chose to purchase Insanely It after seeing it on Natalie’s Beauty Blog. This shade is described as a “bright watermelon,” and it is incredibly gorgeous. To see photographs and swatches, read more…
