The Pantone 2018 Color of the Year is Ultraviolet, a bold blue-based purple. I personally love my blue-based purples the most and I wanted to create a look using some new products I recently picked up. One of them is this vampy shade of Maybelline SuperStay Matte Ink. This is a new lip product and the formula and staying power is pretty incredible. I also used a new spring palette from BECCA Cosmetics for that pretty violet flash on my eyelids.
Since the lips are pretty dramatic, I wanted a wash of color on the eyelids. I ended up using the new BECCA Cosmetics Ocean Jewels Eyeshadow Palette. I used two shades: the deep matte brown and the duo-chrome lavender-violet shimmer. It was super quick and the color payoff is great. I love everyday palettes you can use that have good pigmentation but are still wearable. I can use this palette for a dramatic look or an everyday look.
The lips. Oh, the lips! I actually purchased this shade after seeing the model on the Maybelline display near the product wearing it. It’s this greyed-out plum shade that looks somewhat gothic, but it’s still wearable and not completely editorial. This is sort of the modern day take on wearing a deep burgundy shade. This shade is called Visionary and I have to tell you, the formula is excellent. Once it dries down, it doesn’t budge. There are a lot of other colors available and I think I’ll be going back to grab a few more favorites.
I finished the look off with an ultraviolet blush and a holographic purple highlighter. Both are subtle, but really pull the whole ultraviolet purple look together at the end. I have all the products I used for this look below for you to easily shop!
