Lookbook: Femme de Cirque Inspired Eye Makeup

I recently found this eye makeup look in a folder on my computer that I did around the same time I was swatching the OPI Femme de Cirque Collection. I didn’t put two and two together then, but I realized it was definitely inspired by the nail polish collection, which has gorgeous baby pinks and sheer pale beige-pinks in it. I put this look together in under ten minutes, and I used my Coastal Scents 88 Palette. Inside, I show you what shades I used, and a quick tutorial on how to put this look together if you want to, as well! read more…

Tutorial: Contouring Your Face 101

main

Contouring is one of makeup artistry’s oldest secrets. Everyone from Marilyn Monroe to supermodels of modern day have gotten contoured during their makeup sessions. Body contouring is popular during photo shoots where skin will be shown, while facial contouring is used for portraits. Contouring is a way to trick the human eye into making your facial features look different without having plastic surgery. It can be used to slim the nose and forehead, create sculpted cheekbones, erase a double chin, and make lips look larger. If you’d like to watch a video tutorial on how to properly execute this technique on yourself, read more…

Lookbook: Caribbean Cool

inspiration

This eyeshadow look was inspired directly by a photograph of the Caribbean Sea. Tropical sea’s typically have white caps where the waves break closer to the shore, with the really vibrant, bright blue next, and the darker waters farther out to sea. When I saw the natural gradient of the sea, I was inspired to do an eyeshadow look that mimics this exactly. This eyeshadow look is playful and fun, and should be paired with demure cheeks and lips, as you really want your gorgeous gleaming blue eyeshadow to stand through. Tutorial: Pretty in Pastel, Spring/Easter Look

lavenderlook3

Spring makeup is all about looking light and airy. Pretty in Pastel is a makeup look using pastel lavender shades, with a contrasting violet outer corner. Note that for this look, I did not apply the darker color to the crease, but only the outer corner. I wanted this look to be fresh, pretty, and wearable, not overdone. This is the perfect look to wear for this Easter weekend, or even if you don’t celebrate Easter, to wear for the spring season. The cheeks are left alone, using only a highlighting powder, and a light contour. The lips have a light swipe of purple toned lipstick so that the eyes are the star of the show.
