My very good friend Erin over at Read at Home Mama was co-hosting a Younique Cosmetics party over Facebook last week, and since it’s a brand I’ve heard of, but never tried, I knew I wanted to order some of the pigments. The Moodstruck Minerals Pigments are 100% natural, chemical-free, mineral-based pigment powders, free of talc, oils, preservatives, perfumes, synthetic dyes, and parabens. I am always down for cosmetics that are mineral based and free of chemicals. I don’t have super sensitive eyes, but during the spring when the weather gets warmer, I am prone to allergies. It’s 80 degrees and sunny here today, and I already see pollen on my car. When I have allergies, my eyes get itchy, and I prefer to go with more natural products so that I can lessen the irritation. I picked up 4 of their pigments and have full swatches of Heart Broken, Daring, Sexy, and Regal inside!
Since this was my first experience with Younique, I wanted to get more than one pigment. They have a deal if you purchase a set of 4 pigments, so I grabbed 4 shades that I thought I would wear and like a lot. Having 4 pigments to test versus just 1 gives me a much better idea of the overall wear time, pigmentation, opacity, and formula these have.
Each Moodstruck Minerals Pigment comes with a sifter. Hallelujah. I never know if I’m getting a sifter when I order cosmetic pigments. Sometimes companies don’t offer a sifter and more of the product ends up on my shirt or vanity table than on my face. It keeps the product neat and clean and helps with any mess. That being said, pigments like these are easy to work with because you can tap the product upside down a few times and then grab color from the inside of the cap. This helps prevent fallout, which is a common complaint people have with pigments.
SWATCHES:
Sexy is a super shimmery light pink-beige shade. I can’t say that this leans too warm or too cool. It actually almost has a “rose gold” glow to it when the light hits it, as it’s both pink and golden at the same time. It’s super pretty and flattering, and I will be using this multiple ways. It will look gorgeous as an eyelid color, brow-bone highlighter, cheek highlighter, or even dabbed in the middle of your lips for extra shimmer. If you dab it into the middle of your lips, you’ll end up with fuller looking lips, too! If you wet your brush before you use this pigment (and the others), you will get an even richer, more metallic finish from them. If you use them dry, the effect is still rich, but softer.
Regal is a super rich royal purple with a flash of blue-violet in the light. Gor-geous. Purple is my all-time favorite color and this pigment completely lives up to the hype. It is so opaque and pigmented in just one swipe, and that flash of bright blue-violet in it is stunning.
Daring is a metallic bronze shade. This is a very wearable color for everyone of all skin tones and eye colors. I wear colors like this the most on a daily basis and the metallic glow of this one is extraordinary. I love that this looks dark around the edges and lights up right in the middle. It’s perfect for a smokey eye!
Heart Broken is a reddish-copper shade. If you have blue or green eyes, you will especially love this shade. I have bright blue-green eyes, so I gravitate toward shades like this. They are opposite my eye color on the color wheel, and they make my eye color pop. This is a really beautiful color that is flattering and doesn’t make you look like you have pink eye or an eye infection. It’d be great for a crease color, a smokey eye, or a pop of color along the lower lash-line.
Overall, I’m very pleased with the quality of these pigments. They’re all really rich in color and velvety smooth. I plan on putting together a look using these so you can see them on my actual eyes. These pigments are also very reasonably priced at $10.00 USD per pigment (for 1.1 grams). If you buy the pigments in a set of 4, you save $5.00 off retail price, making the total only $35.00. For natural mineral pigments, that is incredibly reasonable in price, and the quality is definitely there. If you’d like to order or browse the Younique website, feel free to click here!
I want to try the Younique 3D Fiber Lashes Mascara next. I’m a total mascara junkie and I love trying new kinds.

Ohhh! I’m glad you did the review – i’m always nervous about buying makeup I can’t try on because certain pigments just do not agree with me. But these – I love! And yes, will have to get the Fiberlash mascara too because I have lovely eyelashes and only certain mascaras show them (without of course using the eyelash curler 10x a day).
