I stumbled upon the Essence “All About Chocolates” Eyeshadow Palette in an eye-catching display at Ulta Beauty. Since it was under $5, I figured I would pick it up and test it out for you guys. I have to say, it definitely performs well for such an inexpensive eyeshadow palette. I put together a smoky grey and brown look for you using this palette inside!
For $4.99USD, you get six eyeshadow shades. There is a nice blend of finishes on each of the shadows inside. You have some that are more shimmery and metallic and some satin and matte shades. There is also a nice mix of warm and cool toned shades here. There are some grey shades and a couple of cool-toned browns that are very complementary to each other.
For this look, I used the darkest grey shade on the lower right hand side of the palette in my crease and blended it upward toward my eyebrows. I used the chocolate brown shade right above it in the palette and blended that directly into my crease only. I did the same thing along my lower lash-line. For my eyelids, I applied the bottom middle shade with a patting motion. To finish it all off, I used the bottom left hand pearl shade in the inner corners of my eyes for a pop of light.
You can make this look your own by leaving out the eyeliner or adding it. I used black eyeliner on my lower water-line and tight-lined my upper lash line really strongly to emphasize my lashes and eye color. I curled my lashes and applied mascara.
I really love the way these grey and brown shades look with each other. It’s not necessarily a color combination you might initially think to pair, but they complement each other well and create a beautiful gradient smoky eye that glams up the eyes, but doesn’t overpower them.
To make the smoky eyes pop, I used a clean, bright coral cream lip color called “Chella” by ColourPop Cosmetics. It’s such a gorgeous shade and only $5.00USD.
I’ve been trying to weave in some inexpensive makeup options into my looks here to prove that you don’t need to spend a lot of money to look and feel great. The Essence “All About Chocolates” Eyeshadow Palette is definitely worth taking a look at in your local Ulta Beauty store or online here. Each palette retails for $4.99USD and it’s extremely versatile to wear for daytime and nighttime.
