I was incredibly excited when I learned there is finally a deodorant out there that helps with repairing and restoring the skin underneath your arms. Underarms are an often neglected part of the body in terms of skin care. Often times, shaving creates darker patches of skin. Even when I was a teenager, I used to really dislike how my underarm area was always a bit darker than the rest of my skin. Finally, Dove Clear Tone Deodorant is here to save the day! I’m going to be taking the Dove Clear Tone Challenge which will last for two weeks, and I’m going to put this deodorant to the test to see how it improves my underarm area.

The Dove Clear Tone Deodorant promises to help restore skin to its natural tone. It contains calendula and sunflower seed extracts to moisturize the skin and accelerate the natural skin renewal process. It’s an antiperspirant/deodorant, and gives 48 hour odor and wetness protection. The claim is that this will show visibly reduced dark marks and an even skin tone underneath your arms.
Now when it comes to deodorant, I’m quite picky. I’m picky about everything from the scent to how it dispenses. My first thought about this deodorant is that it smells lovely. It’s nice and light, not overpowering at all. My second thought about this deodorant is that I love the twist bottom.
One of my main complaints about deodorants is that they dispense too much or too little product which can create waste. With this one, you can twist the bottom so that the deodorant moves up or down inside the packaging. It doesn’t have little holes in which the deodorant comes out through, it’s a straight stick, which I really like. It allows me to apply just as much as I need without using too much. One of my main frustrations with past deodorants is that when I twist the bottom of the packaging, too much product is dispensed through little holes. I can swipe this underneath my arms and not worry about excess product getting onto my clothes or just sitting on my skin.
Some of my main challenges with deodorant in the past:
- Deodorant dispenses too much (or too little) product, forcing you to waste product or have excess product in your underarm area.
- Deodorant smells too strong.
- Deodorant leaves white marks underneath your arms and on your clothing.
- Deodorant flakes and leaves white flakes underneath your arms.
- Deodorant leaves your underarm area feeling dry and itchy.
- Deodorant leaves your underarm area with dark patches of skin that look unsightly.
- Deodorant doesn’t prevent sweating and body odor well enough.
I am on day one of the two week challenge and so far, I love the scent, the way the product dispenses, and the way the product feels underneath my arms. It feels moisturizing enough where the area doesn’t get dry or itchy, but it doesn’t feel like there is excess product. It actually gives me great coverage, even through super sweat-inducing exercise sessions. I sweat a lot (and exercise a lot) and I need a powerful deodorant, so I am impressed. I haven’t noticed this leaving white residue on my skin or on my clothing, either, which is BIG for me. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been embarrassed by deodorant marks on my clothing!
I’m really excited to see how my underarm area improves in these next two weeks. I’m hoping it will help take away some of the dark areas underneath my arms, and in general, smooth out the skin and keep it exfoliated and even-toned. After my two weeks are up, I’m going to come back and give you my full review of the product!
Did you know? When underarm skin is irritated by shaving, it can respond by creating dark marks.
