When I found out from Nouveau Cheap that there were three brand new Maybelline Eye Studio Color Plush Eyeshadow Palettes being released, I basically did a little happy dance right then and there. These palettes are tied with Wet n Wild for my all-time favorite drugstore eyeshadow palettes. The colors are gorgeous, silky, smooth, and pigmented, and applying them is a cinch. I picked up two out of three palettes after scouring my local drugstores left and right, and the first one is Coral Oasis. This one in particular has four very wearable neutral shades that will look good with every eye color and skin tone. This is a palette you can wear to work, to school, or for a night out. I put together a look using the palette, so go ahead and peek inside for yummy goodness,
Coral Oasis contains four eyeshadow shades that remind me of a gorgeous, glowing sunset: shimmering champagne, shimmering gold, shimmering coral-bronze, and shimmering dark brown. All of the shades are just as pigmented as I expected them to be. These are so velvety soft that they are a dream to work with! Like I said, along with Wet n Wild palettes, these are my all-time favorite drugstore palettes. They blend well, are rich in color, and always have beautiful color combinations.
The Swatches:
I don’t even know what to say. GOR-GEOUS. Maybelline continues to make these Eye Studio Color Plush Palettes absolutely amazing. These shades are so shimmery and full of opaque pigmentation.
The Look:
To create this look, I applied the gold shade into the inner corners of my eyes, and blended it over half of my eyelid. Then, I applied the coral-bronze shade to the outer half of my eyelid. The key to making these two shades blend seamlessly is to go back over the shades a few times, connecting the shades on your eyelid with a brush so the fading doesn’t look harsh. I applied the dark brown to my crease and blended the shade upward onto my brow-bone slightly. To finish everything off, I used the champagne shade as a brow highlight. I also carried the same color scheme along my lower lash-line to tie everything together. I applied black eyeliner to my water-line for extra oomph, and then curled my lashes and added mascara. The finished result reminds me of a sunset.
This look will suit all eye colors, from blue and green to brown. I would love to see this look on dark skin because I think it would look incredible. I would say that since these shades tend to lean on the warm side, it will work best for light-medium to dark skin tones that have olive or warm undertones. Overall, I am obsessed with this palette and this eye look. It’s really fun without being over the top, and the eyeshadow shades in this palette are so easy to blend and work with.
