When I got the press release for the Milani Bella Blue Collection, the first thing that I thought was, “Wow, they have guts!” It’s a compliment of course, since so many drugstore brands refuse to put out edgy shades and products. I love when I go into a drugstore and look at the beauty displays and see something that REALLY catches my eye that is different, unique, and quirky. To me, that is what cosmetics are all about…expressing yourself. The Bella Blue Collection features 3 colored mascara’s, a nail polish, and a lipstick all in gorgeous shades of blue. Swatches and thoughts inside!

Milani Bella Blue Lip Art Lipstick is a metallic blue with a bit of shimmer in it. Now I know you might be thinking right now, “Where in the world am I going to wear blue lipstick?” But blue lipstick is not just for fashion runways and trendsetters, it’s also for those who practice color theory and mix together their cosmetics to create custom hues. This can easily be mixed and layered with other lip products and shades.
I love this lipstick. It’s saturated and opaque, and it is smooth like butter. This reminds me of The Jetsons, I don’t know why. It’s very space-age and edgy, and I love how the metallic finish looks against the blue. I’m already thinking about what reds I want to mix it with to create a custom violet shade!
Milani Bella Blue Nail Lacquer is a really fun dark blue shimmer set in an even darker base. It glows purple in certain lighting and angles, which creates this gorgeous duo-chrome effect.
I already had my nails painted, so I swatched this nail polish over a piece of paper. I love the way the blue shimmer is suspended in a black base and how it glows violet when you turn it the right way!
Milani Lash Art Colored Mascara is part of this collection and contains 3 shades of blue. Each one is a bit different from the other in color and formula.
I took an up-close photo of the mascara wand so you can see it for yourself. I was really excited about these because I cannot tell you how many times I’ve bought colored mascara and the color doesn’t actually show up on my lashes. I was ready to finally get some super colored lashes!
Azure is a shimmering sky blue shade. This one was slightly clumpy, whereas the other two were not. It puts down really nice blue color in just a few strokes.
Bella Blue is a true medium blue (much like the lipstick) and has a metallic finish with a slight glow of violet in it. Again, this was very pigmented for a colored mascara.
Mediterranean Blue is my favorite of the 3. It’s a gorgeous turquoise that went on super pigmented in just two swipes. I was shocked at how rich in color this was and how cool it looked on my lashes. It’s really a gorgeous shade and really made my lashes pop.
What do you think? Are you feeling the blue this summer?
