Happy 100th Birthday Maybelline! I stumbled upon these adorably packaged limited edition lipsticks from Maybelline in the drugstore recently. Both of these shades are for their 100th Anniversary, which blows my mind when I think about it. I always love researching back to the beginning of commercial makeup brands in America, especially the vintage advertisements. I have both shades for you today: Strike A Rose and Purposeful Mauve. Both are limited edition and absolutely gorgeous for all skin tones.

One of the only reasons these lipsticks even caught my eye was this awesome limited edition packaging. It has the New York City skyline and “100” wrapped around the bottom of the lipstick bullet. It’s really adorable and a great way to pick these out of your lipstick collection versus all the other lipsticks that look alike.

 

 

800 – Strike A Rose is a peachy-pink shade with a strong golden shimmer reflect in it. This actually reminds me of NARS’ Orgasm in pure lipstick form. It’s absolutely gorgeous and will look great on a variety of skin tones, from fair to dark. It’s perfect for the spring and summer and really adds  a nice glow to your look. This one will be staying on my vanity for awhile. Also, the formulation is nice on this. It’s not gritty and feels smooth and hydrating.

 

 

805 – Purposeful Mauve is a mauve-nude shade that I ADORE. This is one of those nude “your-lips-but-better” shades that will look great on absolutely anyone. I actually thought this was going to be darker because it looks darker in the lipstick bullet, but it is so flattering and lighter when you actually apply it. The formulation is so moisturizing feeling and this is such a classic, perfect nude shade to wear on a daily basis.

Overall, I think Maybelline did a fantastic job at picking out 2 lovely lipstick shades that are quite neutral and appropriate for all skin tones and ages. These are very classic shades that never go out of style and will look great on everyone.

 

 

Maybelline’s 100th Anniversary Limited Edition Lipsticks in “Strike A Rose” and “Purposeful Mauve” are available at drugstores and mass retailers nationwide. Each lipstick retails for under $10.00USD. I personally found mine in a 100th Anniversary Celebration display at Walgreens. Keep checking your local drugstores if you’re interested in these, because I think they are going to sell out quickly and they are limited edition!
