I have been impatiently waiting for my MAC Cosmetics RiRi Woo Lipstick to arrive since it released last week. This is the first collaboration between Rihanna and MAC Cosmetics, and this lipstick is STUNNING! I knew it was going to sell out quickly, so I jumped on the opportunity and waited the several minutes it took to add it to my cart and check out. Very similar to MAC’s Ruby Woo, this lipstick is a cool, blue-toned red lipstick that is extremely bright and really pops. It is Rihanna’s signature lip color, and it is sexy, sexy, sexy. I went a little overboard with photograph’s inside, so forgive me!
This is the first MAC lipstick with the “Retro Matte” finish. I was really curious to see how it compared to the regular MAC matte lipsticks. Matte lipsticks are always much more dry on the lips, but I find that they tend to actually last on your lips and not rub off very easily.
RiRi Woo is a bright cool-toned, blue-based red lipstick. The packaging isn’t any different than a typical MAC lipstick, but RiRi’s signature is etched into the actual lipstick which I think is a nice touch. The shade along with the RiRi signature imprint just looks really chic and really sophisticated. I love Rihanna’s fashion and beauty choices, so of course I love this lipstick. Since it’s got a strong blue tone to it, it is going to make your teeth look super white.
The lipstick is insanely pigmented and super saturated with color. The “Retro Matte” formula is interesting. I actually found it to be drier feeling than other MAC matte lipsticks when applying it to my lips, but once it was actually ON my lips, it felt more moisturizing than the typical MAC matte lipstick. Basically, while I was applying this to my lips, it felt like it was “tugging” along my lips a little bit because it was so dry, but once I applied it, it felt more hydrating than a usual matte lipstick.
It’s an incredibly flattering color across the board. Regardless of the fact that it is very cool-toned, it still suits warm complexions. It’s very bright, and very matte, which just screams bombshell, sexy, and classic to me. I applied very little else to my face besides mascara and RiRi Woo, and I felt super sexy wearing this lipstick:
Overall, it’s a super sexy, bright, classic, sophisticated shade with a matte finish that is going to look universally great on everyone. I don’t personally own “Ruby Woo” by MAC, but I hear that it is almost identical to it, so if you already own “Ruby Woo,” you might want to skip this one unless you’re a diehard Rihanna or MAC Cosmetics fan. RiRi Woo makes your lips look super pouty and large, which I adore. I am feeling super lucky that I got my hands on this in the first batch of shipments, so be sure to keep a lookout for the next stock in June!
MAC Cosmetics RiRi Woo Lipstick retails for $15.00 USD and is currently sold out. They are releasing a new batch of lipsticks sometime in June 2013. If you’d like to be the first to be notified when the new lipstick shipment is available, sign up on MAC Cosmetics website. I expect that the next batch will probably sell out again fairly quickly, so it’s best to get on it fast if you’re interested. You can also follow me on Twitter, where I tend to notify my followers in real time of releases like this!
