Lookbook: Color Club Starry Temptress Collection, “Wink, Wink, Twinkle,” Photographs & Swatches

Oh how I adore this gorgeous shade! I have seen swatches of the Color Club Starry Temptress Collection for the past couple of months, and I have always managed to talk myself out of “needing” them. I finally caved in and purchased them a few days ago online, and I am really pleased that I did. These are glitter nail polishes, but not your typical glitter at all. Wink, Wink, Twinkle is the most gorgeous neon purple, and I adore the effect these polishes give off. To see photographs and swatches,

There are seven nail polishes in the Starry Temptress Collection, including a true glitter topcoat. This collection is unique because even though these polishes are considered to be “glitter” in finish, the glitter is very different from the norm. Most glitter nail polishes have that sparkling, crystal-like effect to them, and sometimes can be gritty because of the glitter that sits on top of the actual nail color. These polishes are completely smooth like regular creme formula polishes. It appears that the glitter in these polishes actually sits “inside” the pigmentation of the color, making it literally look like the color has a million different stars in it. It’s a really cool concept, and it was executed very well by Color Club.

Wink, Wink, Twinkle is a bright neon, cool-toned purple with loads of silver glitter dispersed throughout it. It is completely smooth on the nail, and the glitter does not sparkle like your normal glitter nail polish does. Instead, the glitter looks like it is “engrained” into the nail polish, making the effect look almost like a marble or granite counter-top. It reminds me of when you look at a granite counter-top and you see the patterns inside the stone, yet the top is completely smooth, rather than placing a pattern on top of the counter-top, and having it be separate from the actual stone.

The formula was just slightly thick, but otherwise perfect. It’s highly pigmented and opaque, but you do want to apply thin coats so that you don’t end up with thick, goopy nails. The above swatches show two coats.

The Color Club Starry Temptress Collection is for Spring/Summer 2011, and contains seven shades, including a glitter topcoat. Wink, Wink, Twinkle is one of the seven shades, and this collection is available online. I always buy my Color Club nail polishes from an online retailer who discounts them. My personal favorite is Victoria’s Nail Supply, which has each shade from this collection for just $3 each. I bought the entire seven piece set for only $21. The best part is, they have incredibly fast shipping!
