When I was invited to take the Flavor Over Fizz Challenge, I was excited and a bit nervous to say the least. I fall into the “not-a-huge-soda-drinker-but-get-tired-of-water” category. I do occasionally crave my diet soda from time to time, especially with certain meals, but I tend to simply get bored of plain old water. Even when dressed up with a shot of lemon, I still eventually want something with some flavor, some pizzazz to it. You know how I feel about keeping the inside of your body healthy and hydrated for your most beautiful canvas to work with, always. Crystal Light, meet South Carolina. It’s hotter than ever, the humidity is enough to steam your glasses, and South Carolina is need of a serious Crystal Light Cooldown. Everyone adores a beautiful looking drink, so why not dress it up to match the flavor? To see what happens when Crystal Light meets South Carolina,
South Carolina is baking like an oven, and I just so happen to live in it. What is a girl to do on a day when the heat index is 113 degrees? Cooldown!
The conversation in my head on a day when it feels like 113 degrees goes something like this, “I am so parched. I need water.” I drink a glass of water, and fill up a new one. That glass then sits on my desk, getting warm with perspiration, as I stare at the homely clear color of what is known as H2o. “Maybe I should have some sweet tea…but sweet tea has a ton of calories, sugar, and caffeine in it. Maybe I should have some soda…but soda makes me feel bloated.”
The solution? A 5 calorie Crystal Light On-The-Go in Peach Iced Tea. Seriously, 5 calories for the whole packet. If you made it this far into the post, you’ve probably already burned that many off.
South Carolina (and the south in general) takes their tea very seriously. There are sweet tea competitions, and every local person knows where the best sweet tea can be found. The problem is, when I drink too much sweet tea I become overly sugared up, overly caffeinated, and drink empty calories. As someone who grew up in the “Great Northeast,” I can tell you that I actually do get sick of sweet tea. I decided to cool down with a Peach Iced Tea On-The-Go Packet by Crystal Light. I simply added the small packet to a glass of water, mixed it up, and added my own extra flair. Dressing this baby up was fun…like staging a shot for Martha Stewart magazine, and it made my mouth salivate as I photographed it. I couldn’t wait to sip this refreshingly cool iced tea to cool down.
I love lemon. In the cooking world, lemon is literally the sunshine in every dish. It spruces up and brings out certain flavors in meals, and in drinks? Forget it, I’m sold. I added a few slices of lemon to my Crystal Light, including one for decoration on the side of glass.
When Crystal Light meets South Carolina, there has to be ice cubes. After all, we are trying to shake off that 113 degree heat index. Three or four ice cubes, and we’ve almost got our entire drink ready to go.
If two heads are better than one, than two straws are better than one, too. A couple of gorgeously bright striped straws later, and we’re ready to sip…
A drop of sunshine…and…
Crystal Light Peach Iced Tea was delicious. It didn’t taste overly sweet, and it had just enough flavor in it for me. I didn’t have to feel guilty drinking it, either, knowing exactly how many calories were going into my body. I also love how tiny the packets are. They’re so convenient to carry around with you…small and discreet, and will literally fit into the pocket of your jeans. You can even add these packets to a water bottle on-the-fly when you’re out somewhere and water just isn’t cutting it.
Needless to say, I enjoyed my Crystal Light Cooldown…
It looks like Crystal Light successfully cooled down South Carolina…
Until the next drink!
