One of my favorite ways to switch my makeup up for the cooler weather is to do smokey eyes in unexpected colors. Most smokey eyes have typical shades of gray and black, or even brown. When you do a smokey eye in an unexpected color, such as purple, or green, it really makes your eye color pop, and adds an extra sexiness to the overall effect. One of my favorite Bare Escentuals eyeshadow shades ever is “Black Emerald,” which is a Bare Minerals Liner Shadow, meaning it can be used as an eyeliner or an eyeshadow. The pigment is super soft, rich in color, and has a gleam like none other. To see more photographs and swatches,
Black Emerald is a “glimmer,” which means it has high shine and shimmer to it. It is a darkened emerald shade, that almost looks midnight green or black at first glance. The shimmer brings out the subtle, gorgeous emerald in this pigment.
You can apply this shade (along with the other Bare Escentuals loose eyeshadows) wet or dry, depending on your desired effect. This makes a particularly gorgeous eyeliner when used wet, with a stiff eyeliner brush, and really highlights a green or dark eyeshadow look. I also love to use this shade for a simple smokey eye, with an unexpected glimmer of emerald. Initially, most people think this shade is just another black on the eye. But when someone gets close to my face, they immediately stop, and ask me what eyeshadow I am wearing. It’s definitely an eye-catching shade, and it’s positively gorgeous.
Bare Escentuals Bare Minerals Liner Shadows retail for $13 a jar, and can be found at Bare Escentuals Boutiques nationwide, as well as Sephora stores nationwide. You can also purchase this product through Sephora online by clicking the photograph and link below:
