It’s no secret that my hair takes quite a beating from all that I do to it. In less than a year I went from being platinum, almost-white blonde to medium brown, to dark auburn, to sandy blonde with highlights, and finally, back to a dark brown, almost soft-black shade. I’d be lying if I said that it didn’t damage my hair and I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, but I also really baby my hair as much as possible with fantastic hair products to minimize split ends, breakage, and dryness. White Sands Orchid Bliss Shampoo & Conditioner has been a lifesaving product for me that has made my hair look luxuriously soft and shiny, even through all the damage I put my hair through. Inside I’ve got a full review of this revitalizing set that not only heals your hair, but smells like a tropical land far, far away…
I was actually extremely interested in these two hair products because of the fact that they have orchid in them. Not only does orchid smell like the tropics, but it reminds me of being in Hawaii and having a fresh orchid lei put around my neck. You could literally breathe the scent in and be transported to your own personal heaven. I also remember being informed in Hawaii that orchid has some pretty amazing anti-aging and mineral properties to it. Orchids are well known for their moisturizing qualities, fighting free radicals, increasing hair immunity and reducing the appearance of imperfections in each hair strand.
The best part about the shampoo? It’s sulfate free! I’m a huge believer in going sulfate-free with shampoo now. I have noticed a dramatic difference in everything from color retention to how hydrated my hair feels when going sulfate free. My hair color tends to stay rich and true with sulfate free shampoo, and my hair doesn’t feel as brittle and dry. I’ve been sulfate free for almost nine months now, and I don’t foresee myself going back to shampoo with sulfate in it anytime soon.
The benefits in Orchid Bliss Shampoo & Conditioner:
- Sunflower seed extract
- Grape seed oil
- Carrot seed
- Olive extract
- Apricot kernel
- Orchid complex fills in imperfections in each strand
- UV protection
The sunflower seed extract helps retain color in your hair and protect against UV rays. Grape seed oil is fabulous for antioxidants, Carrot seed is high in beta-carotene and Vitamin A, and Apricot kernel has Vitamin E and Omega 6 and 9 fatty acids in it to soften and grow strands.
The smell of this product is luxurious and exotic. It’s not overbearing, and there is nothing synthetic about it. It smells exactly like orchid, and it imparts a beautifully light scent to your hair that will last all day. My husband even commented that my hair smelled “really good” when I first started using this, without knowing what it was or what I had changed.
The shampoo lathers well for a sulfate free formula. I like to feel the lather when I shampoo my hair, and this one gives me a nice sudsy feeling when I’m massaging my scalp in the shower. It says to use a quarter-size amount, and I found that it is more than enough product to clean your hair with.
The conditioner feels extremely creamy and thick, and surprisingly, I only need a small amount for my very long hair. I’ve been using these for awhile now, and I’ve only gone through half a bottle of conditioner. My hair is past my chest and I usually go through conditioner like crazy, so that was a big positive in my book.
Another small but notable positive about these are that they come with a pump dispenser. There is nothing worse than having to shake and squeeze the last drop out of a bottle, only to find that you can’t do it with wet, slippery hands! I also like that the pump dispensers are different colors so that I can easily remember which is the shampoo and which is the conditioner.
My current hair has become a lot more manageable and I feel like I am restoring life and vitality to my over-processed hair. Below is a photograph of my hair styled on an average day after using Orchid Bliss:
