Autumn 2011 Lookbook: MAC Cosmetics Mattene Lipstick, “Deliciously Forbidden,” Photographs & Swatches

MAC Cosmetics recently released a new range of lip colors called Mattene Lipstick which offer a semi-matte finish and claim to be completely non-drying and non-flaking. I absolutely love matte and semi-matte lipstick but I tend to shy away from them because they end up drying out my lips, flaking off, or settling into lines. I was pretty impressed with how nice this lipstick felt when I applied it, and it had great staying power. To see photographs and swatches of the gorgeous berry shade Deliciously Forbidden,

Deliciously Forbidden is a mid-tone berry lipstick, and I was drawn to it immediately because it was such a gorgeous vibrant berry shade, yet had a slightly darkened look when applied on the lips. The finish on this lipstick is semi-matte, meaning it has a velvety formula to it, and it is surprisingly hydrating when you apply it. It went on my lips smoothly, and it lasted for quite awhile, giving my lips that fresh berry color for over six hours. After about six hours, my lips did feel a little bit dry, and I would say anything more than that and you may find yourself reaching for either a reapplication or some lip balm.

This lipstick puts down incredibly rich color, so a little goes a long way. The berry color in Deliciously Forbidden is such a genius color for the autumn months when you want to spice your lip color up a bit!

Is that not completely gorgeous? I am obsessed with this lip color! The best part is that you can rock this shade during the daytime and the nighttime. It’s soft and feminine enough to be worn for the office or class, and it can also intensify your look at night and look mighty flirty.

Overall, I was quite impressed with this new lipstick and I would definitely consider getting some of the other shades they offer. Unfortunately, this is part of a brand new limited-edition collection, and a few of the colors are already sold out. I’d love to see MAC offer these as part of their permanent line.

MAC Cosmetics Mattene Lipsticks are limited edition lip colors available at MAC counters nationwide as well as at MAC Cosmetics Online. There are ten shades and each retails for $14.50.
