Autumn 2011 Lookbook: Sephora by OPI “What’s Your Poison?” Nail Colour, Photographs & Swatches

I’ll be the first to admit that I haven’t been the biggest fan of Sephora by OPI recently. I have found their recent color collections and additions to be somewhat typical and boring with an occasional shade here and there that has caught my attention. What’s Your Poison? was one of those shades that stood out at me because it contained beautiful metallic silver glitter in a bright fuchsia-red base. I know, fuchsia-red? Is that even a color? I thought this would be red, but when I look at it, it looks fuchsia to me…and then it looks red again. I guess we’ll leave it up to the beholder. To see photographs and swatches, as well as what I thought of the formula,

What’s Your Poison? is described by Sephora as an opaque cranberry red with chunky glitter. I would say that it is definitely opaque, and all of the swatches in this article were just two quick coats. The base is more of a jelly base, though, as you can kind of see through the glitter to it, and it has that “squishy” look to it. The glitter is not really chunky, and more of a metallic silver mid-sized glitter. It’s definitely not micro-fine, but after dealing with a lot of chunky glitter polishes in my collection, this is definitely a medium-sized glitter polish. The color tends to fall somewhere between fuchsia, cranberry, and red depending on your lighting. It really is a gorgeous color, and it lasted for a good six days without any chipping on my nails.

Most jelly base nail polishes are really, really thick, and almost hard to work with. This polish was actually quite watery, if not a little too watery. If you are used to these types of polishes being super thick, don’t make the same mistake I did when I first applied it, leaving a ton of product on my brush and then being shocked when it was running down my nail and finger! A little bit of this polish goes a long way.

Overall, this is a beautiful polish shade, and it will be perfect for the upcoming holiday season. If you’re not into doing your nails orange or black for Halloween, this is a great glittery shade to consider. It’s also wonderful for the upcoming Christmas and New Year’s season. This shade reminds me of Snow White for some reason.
