Laura Mercier Crème Smooth Lip Colour is one of my personal favorite lipstick formulas. Not only is the product super soft but it always feels hydrating on your lips. This month, March 2013, Laura Mercier is releasing fourteen brand new shades into their collection. I have two of the brand new shades here that I wanted to swatch and show you because they are that gorgeous. “Belize” and “60’s Pink” are perfect spring lipstick shades for when the weather turns warm and you’re looking to retire your dark makeup shades.
Laura Mercier always has gorgeous packaging. These lipsticks come in dark, square tubes. I couldn’t help but photograph these two lipsticks on top of a spring-inspired background. The shades are so bright and pretty, and the warm weather has gotten to my head!
60’s Pink is a light pale pink shade with a slight frost to it. Now, the term “frost” when it comes to lipstick scares a lot of people. It may conjure up images of the 1980’s when frost lipstick was all the rage. The frost in this particular shade is shimmery and light, and imparts a beautiful reflection from the light. The color is light but buildable, and it can put down an opaque, pale pink shade. This would be the ideal shade for pairing with a heavy smokey eye. I, personally, always think of the famous 60’s makeup as being a dramatic cut-crease or cat-eye with a pale pink or nude lip, so the name fits well.
The shade is really incredibly flattering, and I believe it is one of those pale pink shades that will work on anyone. It doesn’t lean too cool or too warm, and it’s not too pale where it looks chalky.
Belize is a shimmering orange-coral shade. This shade is hot, hot, hot! Shades of orange and coral are so trendy for this spring, and this lipstick shade is lovely. It has orange-tones to it, but it’s more of a coral shade with a lighter golden and orange sheen to it. This was incredibly saturated with pigment and needed just a couple of swipes to put down great color.
Belize is one of those shades that is not only trendy, but would look fantastic with glowing, tanned skin. I don’t quite have the tan part down yet, but I think it looks so pretty with highlighted cheeks and eyes.
Overall: If you haven’t tried Laura Mercier’s Crème Smooth Lip Colour yet, it’s definitely worth trying. The formula is soft, smooth, and always incredibly moisturizing on the lips. One of my main issues with lipsticks is that they tend to dry out my lips, and these actually do the opposite. There is a variety of brand new shades available this month, as well, so there’s sure to be something for every skin tone and preference.
