With the launch of Disney’s “Oz The Great and Powerful,” there has been so many inspired beauty collections! OPI’s Oz Collection is an ode to the movie and contains seven brand new nail polishes. For those of you who love neutral nail polish shades, this collection is going to be a dream for you. The sheer and sophisticated colors are also perfect for the busy spring wedding season. Let’s take a look at swatches inside,
When Monkeys Fly! is a multi-flecked gold glitter. Inside, there are pieces of larger hexagonal glitter, as well as small pieces of sparkle. This would make a gorgeous topcoat over any polish, especially light, nude shades. It was a bit difficult to get the larger pieces out, but as long as you’re careful to let the clear topcoat stay thin, you can successfully apply the glitter without it being goopy or thick.
What Wizardry Is This? is actually a “Liquid Sand” polish by OPI, meaning you are not supposed to use a topcoat on it, and let it dry with a matte, textured look. When I first applied this polish, I had a feeling it was a textured polish even though it wasn’t labeled as such, because it looked a little gritty. Anyway, I went ahead and put a topcoat over it (not being completely sure it was a texture polish), and I actually really like the way it looks shiny. The golden flecks inside the color really come out when the polish is shiny. If you leave this polish with no topcoat, it will dry to a matte, somewhat bumpy, textured coat.
Which Is Witch? is an iridescent glitter topcoat. This one is gorgeous and applies beautifully in just two coats. This would look fantastic layered over the really neutral shades in this collection.
I Theodora You is a sheer pink shade. Perfect for a french manicure, a wedding, a business meeting, or any other occasion where you want a polished and understated look.
Glints of Glinda is a pale, sheer nude. Similar to “I Theodora You,” only beige instead of pink. Again, this is perfect for a french manicure or a wedding. This one just leaves a really clean look to your fingernails.
Don’t Burst My Bubble is a sheer white opal shade. This one is super pretty because it almost looks like a light pink shade, but when you compare it to “I Theodora You,” it’s definitely more of a white shade. This one had the best formula out of the three sheer neutral shades in my opinion.
Lights of Emerald City is a multi-flecked white glitter, the same as “When Monkeys Fly!” only with white glitter and large square pieces of glitter inside instead. This one was fairly easy to coax out of the bottle, and I just love the way this one looks when placed over top of a neutral polish.
Above is “Lights of Emerald City” over top of “Don’t Burst My Bubble.” I love, love, love the effect. It’s soft and feminine, but it has that fairytale twinkle to it. It reminds me of a snow globe!
