I cannot even tell you how much my eyes lit up the second I saw the press release for these brand new NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows. Not only do they look pretty in their packaging, but I love the new dual-application formula – apply dry for a sheer, airbrush-like finish with a luminous sheen or apply with a dampened brush for high-impact and intense, opaque color. There are twelve shades total, and I have Callisto and Subra for you here today. Both are absolutely stunning and do not fail to impress in terms of formula and pigmentation. Take a look inside for swatches, as well as a look using both eyeshadows!

The new NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows are meant to be intense in pigmentation. They can be applied both dry and wet, with the wet application looking slightly more intense in color and more metallic.
Subra is described as a “black orchid” shade, which is pretty spot on. It’s a darkened violet shade that looks darker around the edges and lights up orchid in the middle. This eyeshadow is SUPER pigmented. One swipe with your finger or a brush is all you need. I didn’t notice a huge difference in the dry swatch versus the wet swatch to be honest, mostly because Subra was as pigmented as pigmented comes, both ways.
Callisto is described as an “icy pink silver” which is partly true but doesn’t do this shade justice. It has the most unique duo-chrome shine effect to it when the flash goes off. You end up getting a flash of blue and pink in the silver metallic base. It’s stunning. This shade is so rich in color and soft to the touch. With this shade, I did notice that the wet swatch had a stronger duo-chrome effect to it.
I put both Subra and Callisto to the test on my eyes! I used Subra dry in the crease of my eye and along my lower lash-line, smoking it out and making sure there were no harsh edges. I went back with Callisto and used a wet brush to pat it over my entire eyelid and into the inner corners of my eyes. Like I said, Callisto is a new favorite of mine. It just lights up on your skin!
I applied black eyeliner to my lower water-line for a smokey effect and tight-lined my upper lash-line.
I just love how glowing these new NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows look. They really perform well and have a wonderful formula.
The NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadows will be available starting July 1st, 2014 at NARS boutiques and NARSCosmetics.com. Each Dual Intensity Eyeshadow will retail for $29.00 USD. There are twelve shades total, from romantic shades of peach and pink to darker shades like Subra in this post. Be sure to check out all the shades available at the beginning of July! I wouldn’t mind swatching and trying out some other shades myself. These just have an outstanding formula and feel to them.
