Nail Of The Day Lookbook: China Glaze “Broken Hearted” Crackle Over Zoya “Trixie”

Crackle nail polish is all the rage right now! I have to be honest when I tell you that I love this trend because it brings something new and fresh to the nail polish scene. For awhile there, it seemed like we were a little stagnant with nail polish shades and collections, and these crackle nail polishes bring something new and fun to the scene. China Glaze is the first to introduce color crackle nail polish, available in six different shades. I have had my collection for awhile, but have been hesitant to post full swatches of the collection because a couple of the shades don’t crackle as well as the others. I finally found a gorgeous combination, however, with Zoya “Trixie,” a metallic silver nail polish, with China Glaze “Broken Hearted” pink crackle over top of it. To see photographs, swatches, and tips for achieving this look,

Step One: Apply a metallic silver over all your nails. You can use any metallic silver you own, but for reference, I used Zoya’s “Trixie” which is absolutely gorgeous.

Step Two: Making sure you have let the metallic silver dry completely (this is very important!), apply China Glaze “Broken Hearted” pink crackle over each metallic silver painted nail. You want to apply the crackle shade without a ton of product on the brush, and you want to apply it diagonally, and in varying angled strokes. If you want the effect to be very pronounced, do not simply brush the crackle polish down your nail normally…brush it onto your nail into an “X” motion, and continue to fill in your nail.

Step Three: You will notice the pink “crackling” or “shrinking” on your nail, and since you used various diagonal motions, the pattern will be much more random and cool looking. You will need a top coat to make the pink crackle shine. Be sure to coat the nail generously so your manicure will last!

The final effect is a pretty gorgeous color combination. I like it!

China Glaze Crackle Collection is available at Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply stores nationwide, and can also be purchased online through various e-tailers online. Most of this collection is out-of-stock, and back-ordered online, but be sure to check multiple sites, and check often. Your best chance of finding this collection is to check your local Ulta and Sally Beauty Supply stores and see if they have the display in stock. There are six shades in the crackle collection in total.
