For those of you who follow me on Twitter, you may have heard how disappointed I was when I found out how quickly the My Paradise Cheek Powder from the MAC Surf Baby Collection sold out. The first day it was released, it was gone within an hour, and when they restocked a week later, it was gone again in an even shorter amount of time. My in-laws were visiting over Memorial Day weekend, and I decided to hit up my local MAC counter by chance. When I mentioned to the employee that everything I wanted was sold out online, she said, “I actually have two of those cheek powders left.” At this point, I may or may not have shrieked in the middle of a department store. Of course, I scooped one up with a goofy look of success on my face as she rang my purchase up at the counter. Long story short: This cheek powder is not only gorgeous, but it is also in high demand and hard to find. To see photographs and swatches,
This is one of those products that you will be absolutely drawn to based solely on the way it looks. I am a huge fan of hibiscus flowers (I actually have one in a tattoo on my body) because I was married in Hawaii. The sparkle from the hibiscus and the soft, gorgeous peach shade of the blush are very flattering. This is most definitely a universally flattering cheek powder for all complexions!
The pigmentation is pleasing on this cheek powder. Above, you see two fingers, one swiped on the gold hibiscus overspray, and one swiped on the peach blush. The powder is creamy and soft, super smooth, and applies well.
When you sweep your brush onto the powder as a whole and combine the overspray with the peach blush, you get an amazing peach coral sparkle:
The overall effect is soft, build-able, and the touch of shimmer would look gorgeous with a tan. I personally love this product because it acts as a two-in-one for me, being both a blush and a cheek highlighter. For those who are enamored with the overspray and aesthetic appeal of this product, beware that once you start using it and swiping the shades together, you will ruin the pretty design, and end up with something that looks like this:
Overall, I am in love with this cheek powder, and I am so very thankful that I visited the MAC counter that day! I had been wanting this cheek powder like you wouldn’t believe, and I just wasn’t ready to pay the $60 price tag this product currently has on eBay.
