Purple is my all-time favorite color, so you know I am in love with this palette. The Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in Plum Splendor is especially gorgeous because it gives you a nice variety of plum shades. Besides the black liner shade, all the colors in this palette are quite shimmery and really give a high shine look. I’ve got full swatches inside and a makeup look I put together using it,

Plum Splendor is one of the new “eye brightening” eyeshadow palettes from Lancome. There are five complementary shades inside each palette.
What is nice is that the palette is marked with a guide (and comes with a guide, as well) in case you want tips on how and where to use the colors. Of course I kind of navigate by how I’m feeling on any particular day, but it’s nice that you can create a really subtle, glowing look from this palette, but also a dramatic smoky one as well.
I love the shades in this palette. It’s very unique as a purple eyeshadow palette because it mixes warm and cool toned purples and plums.
Every shade was very pigmented and velvet-soft. I especially love the sparkling plum shade (second from the left)…when it hits the light, it glows gold.
I had no problems with the application, and in fact, these applied really well on the eyes. The shades were even more pigmented using a brush then when I just swiped my finger into it to swatch. I used the plum-gold shade over my entire eyelid and lower lash-line. Then, I blended the bright lavender purple into the crease, extending it upward toward the brow-bone. I added the darker purple onto the outer-third of my eyelid and along the outer-third of my lower lash-line, blending it out well. I also added just a very small amount of the matte black to this area to really darken it up and create that smoked out effect. I used the lightest shade in the palette along the inner corners of my eyes and my brow-bone. One thing to note, because this palette has such shimmery shades, you’ll definitely want to do your eye makeup first and your face makeup last, or put some translucent powder underneath your eyes while you’re doing your eye makeup. The shimmer will have some fallout while you’re applying it and blending it, so this helps prevent a glitter mess underneath your eyes.
Purple really looks great on all skin tones and eye colors. It brings out green and brown eyes especially. I have blue-green eyes, but when I wear purple eyeshadow they look much more green than blue.
Overall, I was very pleased. The shades applied beautifully and the purples are true to color and stunning on the eye. These really do brighten and lighten your eye area well, especially if you’re tired. I like that you can use this palette for a demure office look or a much more dramatic nighttime smoky eye. The possibilities are endless. As a purple lover, I’d say this is definitely one of my favorite purple eyeshadow palettes ever.
The Lancome Color Design 5 Shadow & Liner Palette in “Plum Splendor” is available at Lancome counters nationwide, as well as online at Lancome’s website. Each eyeshadow palette retails for $49.00 USD. There are many, many palettes available from Lancome with various color combinations. I definitely recommend checking them out in person or on their website because they are all so pretty. They also have great color payoff and intensity.
