Luxury beauty is always fascinating to me because in all honesty, who *needs* a forty-two dollar lipstick? Despite it not being a necessity, these Gucci lipsticks are regal and classically beautiful to look at and hold. So is it worth it?

I purchased “208 – They Met In Argentina” which is described as a “warm rosewood” shade. I usually do my research before buying a lipstick and see if any other bloggers have swatched it. The results I found made this shade look universally flattering, but the shade also looked different depending on the light and what it was paired with.

The packaging is stunning. It is a heavy gold bullet with a ribbed texture on the outside and a magnetic cover. The lipstick looks matte to the eye and super velvety. I almost didn’t want to swatch it because it looks so pretty in the tube! I would say this definitely leans toward a warm rosy-pink shade that is uber flattering for a variety of skin tones.

So is it worth it? For me, personally, if I am going to spend the money on a luxury lipstick, it has to be a wearable, everyday color for me. I know that some beauty lovers feel that having a “special occasion” shade in a luxurious formula is worth it to them, however, I want something I can actually use and wear regularly. This shade is gorgeous and goes with a wide variety of makeup looks.

On the lips, this lipstick is matte but not dry feeling. It wears well for hours with minimal transfer. On the lips, this looks like a dusty coral shade on me, and in certain lighting it can even look like a pinky-nude. It is very comfortable to wear and doesn’t feel heavy or flaky like some matte lipsticks can be. I really enjoy the formula and the shade is one that I can wear year round.
