Yesterday was my five year wedding anniversary and today was my birthday! Yes, I got married the day before my birthday. This is always a very exciting two days, and I typically actually get more dressed up for my anniversary than I do for my birthday. I usually spend my birthday working or more laid back, doing what I enjoy doing most, whereas my anniversary is a time to go out to a fancy dinner and get dolled up. I decided to share my full makeup look and hair with you from yesterday. Whenever I am getting dolled up for a special occasion, I still like to look and feel like “myself,” so I’ll go with my favorite products and shades, only I’ll apply them more dramatically. Full details inside, with some pictures from our night!
Believe it or not, the makeup I feel sexiest wearing is very Sophia Loren inspired. I like to play up my eyes with dramatic cat eyeliner and layer on the mascara, while leaving the face neutral and bronzed. The lips are nude and there is a bit of a noticeable nude lip-liner outline going on, which makes the lips look larger and more dramatic. I decided to go with this type of look for my anniversary yesterday, with a few of my own touches.
Makeup Used:
- Marc Jacobs Genius Gel Supercharged Foundation
- Too Faced “Hotel Heiress” Bronzer
- Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in “Dim”
- LORAC Pro Eyeshadow Palette
- Kat Von D Tattoo Eyeliner in “Black”
- L’oreal Butterfly Mascara in “Blackest Black”
- Stila Kajal Eye Pencil in “Topaz”
- Milani Lipliner in “07 – Brandy”
- Dior Nude Rouge Lipstick in “Trench”
- MAKE UP FOR EVER Aqua Brow in “Ash”
I used a shimmering copper shade over the entire eyelid, and added a matte light brown shade in my crease and along my lower lash-line. I used a flesh colored eyeliner on my lower water-line to open up the eye and used black liner on my upper lash-line, making sure to flick it out dramatically. I added tons of black mascara for a really dramatic effect.
The face is kept very neutral, with just bronzer in the hollows of my cheeks. I used one of the Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder’s, which I LOVE, to highlight my face and give it a glow. I lined my lips with a brown lip liner and then added nude lipstick to my lips.
For my hair, I used my Hot Tools Rainbow Curling Iron in 1 1/4.” I just take sections of dry hair and curl them AWAY from my face. Once they’re cooled, you can use your fingers to loosen them up.
The result is tousled, wavy, bouncy hair! My hubby took us to an amazing Italian place, where I ate, and ate, and ate…
There was delicious white wine…
Incredible seafood pasta in a white wine sauce that was out-of-this-world…
And last, but certainly not least, we stopped at our favorite cupcake bakery in the city for some sweet treats for my birthday today!
My birthday was much more laid-back, and I just threw my hair in a ponytail and wore workout clothes all day. I was able to do some of my favorite things, like go for a nice long nature walk, where hubby and I got to climb to a big rock in the middle of a river! We just sat and talked away the time!
Of course, I had to get a picture like this…I’m ready to take on the world! If you read my blog, thank you so much for all of your kind anniversary and birthday wishes. Here’s to many more great blog posts and happy, healthy years!
