I have always been a huge fan of Splurge Versus Steal, even when I was younger and faithfully watched every single episode of “The Look For Less” on the Style Network. And why not? Getting a steal means more money in your wallet with the same fashionable payoff. When I had the opportunity to pick out some “steal” items from Sears recently, I was extremely excited. After all, I have always been fortunate in my life to have the things I need, but I’ve never been a girl who could go out and spend thousands of dollars on an outfit, let alone hundreds. Since the holiday season is upon us, and everyone is looking for those special holiday pieces that add extra flare, I wanted to pick out extraordinary trends that I think will really stand out, and usually retail for a good chunk of money. To see what I picked out, and the Splurge Versus Steal I put together for you,
Cheetah Print Button Down Shirt
Animal print is extremely hot right now and has been making a steady comeback for a few years now. Animal prints can range from cheetah to leopard, and even snakeskin. Button down shirts with detailing have become extremely trendy, but also exude a timelessness because they can be worn at work, for a casual night out, or a party. Button down shirts have shown feminine detailing such as ruffles, bell and dolman sleeves, and bows, and can be worn long for a tunic-style effect or tucked in to a skirt with a pretty belt.
I chose this Covington Cheetah Ruffle Blouse because of the unique detailing in the shirt. The ruffle details around the v-neck create a feminine appeal to the otherwise edgy animal print, and the material is fluid and drapes in all the right places. This top has a waist tie so you can cinch your waist in to really flatter your figure. Since I have curves, I really like the waist tie because I can cinch it at the smallest part of my waist, drawing the eye to that area first. I also love the matching stretch camisole underneath, which is a dark brown and coordinates well with the sheer material of the shirt. The blouse is dressy, but still has that edginess and personality to it. Another thing that I love about this blouse is the length. It hits around mid-hip, making it look more like a tunic and allowing you to wear it with leggings and skinny jeans. This shirt is so versatile and can be worn to work, tucked into a black pencil skirt, or even to a New Year’s party with some skinny jeans and boots.

Black Panel Leggings
Leggings are undoubtedly one of the biggest trends of the past year. This comfortable, flattering trend has seen an explosion of prints, materials, and colors. You can never go wrong with a classic black legging because it will go with everything in your closet, and after all, black is slimming. My favorite type of legging are panel leggings, which typically have some type of detailing at the sides of the legs. This, again, draws eyes downward toward the detailing, highlighting your legs, and giving your style that bit of personality.
This pair of Kardashian Kollection Ladder Leggings is effortlessly edgy, chic, and on trend. The panels contain open-knit ladder detailing that stretches to reveal a hint of leg when pulled with your fingers or stretched by your leg movement. It shows just enough to be sophisticated still, and would look fabulous with a pair of boots for the winter. The material on these leggings is knitted so they feel extremely warm and cozy, almost like a pair of your favorite socks. The material is stretchy and flatters a wide variety of body types from thin to very curvy. These leggings are extra long and scrunch up at the bottom a bit like a pair of leg warmers.

Fur Lace-up Booties
Fur is EVERYWHERE this season! We are seeing it on coats, vests, hats, and especially on boots. Booties are very on trend right now because they can be worn with skinny jeans, leggings, tights, and paired with dresses and skirts as well. Lace-up detailing on boots adds an old-school dimension to the trend, and allows you to add a toughness to your look.

When I spotted these Kardashian Kollection Kim Booties, I knew they had to be mine! The price is beyond a steal, and they are so trendy right now with a pointed toe, lace-up detailing, and fur ankle cuffs. I can pair these booties with so many pieces this winter from skirts to dresses to skinny jeans. The shoes are actually quite comfortable to wear, and aren’t too narrow, so they won’t pinch your toes or foot. These boots are perfectly reminiscent of Kim Kardashian, and really add a “city chic” vibe to your overall look.

Now that is a steal I can get behind! I’d also like to mention that Sears has some of the best customer service online you can possibly imagine. I ordered my items on a Tuesday night and they were at my front door Thursday morning, with free standard shipping.
My overall style is trendy, edgy, and city-sophisticated. I like to pair statement pieces with classic, basic, timeless clothing items.
