Happy Halloween everyone! Unfortunately, life threw me quite a curve ball tonight when I needed to rush my dad to the emergency room for extreme shortness of breath. Since I knew I’d be out most of the night alone with him in the hospital, and only my laptop to blog from, I decided to talk about keeping a gratitude journal. I’m a big writer in general, and I’ve always enjoyed journaling my life events. I was recently at the bookstore when I came across this little gratitude journal.
I fell in love immediately. It contains inspiring quotes to keep you positive, and each page gives you a guided question that you can fill in as you see fit.
I’ve had this gratitude journal for only two weeks, and I haven’t skipped a day yet. It’s extremely therapeutic for me to release my thoughts, whether good or bad, every single day. It guides you with questions to think about things you may not always think about every single day, such as “Donations of the Heart (acts of kindness, sharing, caring, forgiveness). Some days it is really easy to fill in everything because I feel such an abundance of gratitude. The days when I find it more difficult is where the magic happens.
It forces me to be thankful and grateful for every single thing that I have.
It allows me to think outside the box and really dig deep into what I’m thankful for, no matter how small and silly it may seem. Heck, one day I even wrote down that I was thankful for a hot cup of tea and a blanket, because it was just so cold outside.
Honing in on what I’m grateful for each day, sharing my acts of kindness, and speaking about my daily events and goals keeps me focused and calm. I usually fill mine out as part of my nightly “before bed” ritual. It’s a place for me to put all my thoughts, and then close it until the next day.
I know this doesn’t have anything to do with makeup or beauty, at least aesthetically, but since I’m limited in what kind of post I can do tonight because of my circumstances, I wanted to share with you something that helps relieve my stress and give me peace. In turn, these help me look and feel more youthful!
